Attire to wear to a viewing?

A friend of mine past away and his viewing is Thursday and Im not sure what to wear. I know its not as dark as a funeral but was wondering what be acceptable? Thanks

I am sorry about your loss. I sadly have had to go to a few and I always wore a darker colored dress shirt and tie along with appropriate pants. Thats just me though, I didn't feel like I stuck out but then again I wasn't really thinking about that.

sorry to here that. any kinda of dark dress shirt, dress pants and a tie. nice jacket if you have one.

just recently had my grandmother pass, I wore a suit, at the viewing I had a blue w/white collar shirt on....all black suit, no stripes.

dark suit (I wear a black double breasted such occasions) and a dark tie.

My condolences. I wore a black suit (black tie, white button-up shirt under the jacket) to the viewing and then the same suit to the funeral the next day when a good friend of mine passed away.

I wouldn't wear anything less, personally, unless you can't afford it.
