Okay for anyone that said that Mexican or Spanish speaking immigrants dont try to learn english in this country there is a thing called "Ingles sin Barreras". Which are videos that teach you to speak english and many people do use it.
Also many Mexican imigrants do join the army and have died like in Iraq fighting for this country and they dont even have citinzinship in the US.

I don't think anyone in this thread has an issue with the people who are trying to learn english. I realize it is one of the harder languages to pick up and the effort to atleast try to speak to us in our language goes a long way. Personally, I do have an issue with going into the gas station down the street and not being able to read what flavor the gatorade is because the entire bottle is in spanish.

As far as Mexicans joining the military goes I would assume they have to be legal immigrants for that too. The issue most people have is the people who try to cheat the system. It has nothing to do with what country they are from or what job they are doing.

You go on the premise that all of the illegal immigrants are here because they flee something. In reality, a large portion are here for MONEY. Their families are still home, and they go home to visit. They send the cash home.

I talk to the cleaning guys in my building all of the time. They are from Ecuador (sp), and they send all the money home.

Yes, the US should offer a place for those people who flee persecution - not for those who care only about a few bucks.

with most ppl in this thread i agree that illegal imigrants should pay taxes and learn english and i don't think they should hop the border but i don't think its entirely their fault. i think most companies are responsible for it too like someone previously said. a lot of companies hire illegal immigrants becasue of their hard work and low salary to pay, plus their easily replaceable since they really dont have a contract or a union. a lot of it is greed from companies that increase their profit by paying low salaries to illegal immigrants instead of hiring a citizen that would demand more. like most citizen that pay taxes i dont think its far for ppl to work and pay taxes so someone can benifit and not put it, but i don't think it's entirely their fault. instead of going all out on border patrol which still is important, i think the govt should do heavy surveilance of companies that hire illegal immigrants and give the companies fines for every illegal immigrant thats hired.

Many illegals (most?) do. It's witheld from their salary. Companies fear the IRS more than the INS. They'll hire illegals but they ask for social security cards (I believe they know they're fake) and withold income and social security tax. Since the illegals don't file returns to get refunds or collect social security, those that pay taxes partially (maybe wholly) compensate for those that get paid cash off the books.

And if they do get paid off the books, does anyone think it's done for their benefit or at their request? I believe it's done by companies that don't want to pay their share of social security, etc. Or think they're in less danger for hiring illegals if there's no paper trail. So whose fault is it if some illegals aren't paying tax?

Dont forget america stole texas, new mexico, and arizona from mexico.....Its not the illegal aliens' fault for all of this, it is americas fault. They have been entering this country for two centuries, and just now the U.S is starting to make a huge deal about this.....come on now. They should have seen this coming for the get-go. They created the whole problem. Illegal aliens probably play the lottery too, that there gives back to the community/state. A good portion of them do pay taxes. If they dont give to social security, then they dont get any. They dont get a tax return either. They are not contributing to increasing insurance premiums either. A good portion do send their money back to their families in hope of having a better life, and one day being able to come to america. If you were all in their situation in mexico, and could have a life 100% better than what they have had there, and all you have to do is walk across or sneak across the border to do it.....are you telling me you wouldnt do the same thing? I know damn well i would. If you say no, ur full of it. Because it is not "ethical" is a lame excuse. Does anyone have neighbors that let their dogs run around the damn neighborhood at will? If ur a neighbor, call the dog catcher and put them in the pound. Another solution...get a cage so they cant get out! Make a damn border. Apply that to this situation.

Well I'm from Canada so it's nt really my problem. But I don't like the idea of the American anthem being released in Spanish by a bunch of recording artists and producers. Learn to sing it in English you latinos!

Just to clarify something that I've noticed... the media is calling illegal aliens "immigrants" when referring to them.

The one thing that gets me when I watch the media reporting the events in your country, is when they show these mexican illegals who have been there for like over 15 years or some ridiculous number, and they can't even speak a word of english. That bugs me, and I don't have to be an American to shake my head to that. I saw this one guy, he wqas some mariachi musician, been in the USA for over 20 years the guy was on CNN speaking with a translator. The guy was young, like in his 40s with a HUGE family like 6 or 7 kids. Camon, learn to speaka za english pal.

I don't care about immigrents. Half of my family is from another country, but you know what? We are here LEGALLY. I pay taxes, I work; I don't sit and mooch off of the system and cry when the government of the country that I'm in ILLEGALY wants to kick me out. Get a green card or go home.

I bet 75% of the people that have a problem with this are just plain prejudice.......They arnt taking anyones jobs either. they are getting THEIR jobs. to get a job, all you have to do is apply?? if you are more qualified than other people applying or working there presently....im sure you will get hired. If they are illegal...they can only be but so qualified. Back in highschool i took spanish, and i learned most of my spanish not at school but at work. At the time i worked as a dishwasher and bus boy for a restaurant. I credit those illegal immigrants for me receiving an A in spanish. :)

they are playing the system and beating it. every one of us tries to play the system and tries to beat it in some way or another. Why just sit there, bend over and take it in the rear, when you can do better? America shouldnt focus on removing whats already here, but focus on keeping out what could or is going to come here.

NO NO NO. :twak: They are getting jobs because they work for LESS than minimum wage. Companies cannot pay legal residents LESS than minimum wage, but they can pay illegals under the table whatever they want. This has nothing to do with qualification and everything to do with the almighty buck. As someone pointed out before, companies are a major component of this problem.

You know that's funny. I just listened to John and Ken from KFI and they just played American Anthem in German. There wasn't that many people that got upset about eventhough its been around. Someone played the Spanish one just once and everybody is at an uproar.

I don't like it either and American Anthem should be played only in English. But there's way more other things to be concern with.

A lot of Illegals do pay taxes (they just can't file taxes), buy American products and contribute to society.

Again what really upset me are the companies that hire them and thats undermining the middle class and working class when it comes to pay and health Insurance. What upset me is that there's too many lazy Americans who would rather be unemployed and collect social check with an excuse that they can't find a job. When an illegal can just job the border and find work right away. What upset me is that there's 3 million homeless people capable of working compare to 4-5milllion illegals here. If only they would work. But no, what I hear is that the illegals took their jobs-that's there excuse for being homeless.

If companies and Americans could get their act straight there wouldn't be any room or any chance to illegals here.

What I would like to see are the illegals here protesting against their government in their country. That would be a better cry.
