How do you guys feel on this subject? I've noticed recently that it has blown up on the news channels.

I found out some pretty interesting facts...
Illegal Immigrants can pay taxes, and in fact, they contribute about 7 billion dollars a year to our economy. But, with all the free health care, benefits, etc. It costs about 50 billion a year to house them here.

A lady named Emma Lozano made a comment that this country was founded on immigration. I'm sorry, but times have changed and we need to know who is in this country.

I'm not to fond of the "Spanish National Anthem" either...

What are your guys/gals views? I don't want this to get locked, just looking for some actual intelligent dicussion on a subject, so keep it clean. :cool:

I think I disagree with you 100%. Just take every statement you made, make it the opposite, and that's my stance.

I have a few questions to you... how exactly do you plan on having all the illegals leave? How exactly are you going to patron the borders and make sure no one comes in? How do you plan on replacing the MILLIONS of jobs they do? Who is going to do them? The man who is sitting home complaining about how he can't get a job? No. He doesn't really want a job. I've never met anyone that couldn't get a job. Hell, even if your autistic, there are still jobs for you in your area. It's a matter of standards, and let's face it, the average Joe American isn't going to pick your strawberries or cleaning your **** off the walls in the bathroom when he can just collect money from the government.

Are we talking about immigrants, or illegal immigrants? Immigrants are cool in my book, but ones who came over illegally deserve to be forced back into their country. And now the illegal ones are saying they deserve all these rights? Try staying legally like the rest of us.

I was talking about illegals. If you come here nowadays legally, you probably have a pretty decent job waiting for you here, or you're coming from a country that is a lot better than Mexico to begin with.

EDIT: ack, that was a little direct towards you.. sorry, I just meant to make those general and not directly towards you. And as far as the spanish national anthem... just because you're changing the language doesn't change the meaning. If that's the case, then throw out your Bibles because they're all crap.

I didn't really know how far I should extend my views on it. To answer your questions, I feel that the illegals that are already here midaswell stay. That basically answers all of your questions lol.

47 billion really isn't all that much, when you consider how much they're bringing into the economy and when you compare it to other government expenses. Where did you get 47 billion anywhere? Seems a bit made up. Can you show some backing?

If you feel that we NEED to know who is in this country... yeah, ideally, that'd be a great idea... but it's just not going to happen. Absolutely no way.

EDIT: Actually, the most widely used number is 10 billion.

I have absolutely no problem with anyone from any country immigrating into this country. That is what we were built on and have strived to keep over the years. However, I do have a problem with people not following the same procedures that every other immigrant does to become a citizen. If you came into the country illegally and try to stay here illegally you should be removed back to the country of your origin. I don't think that should mean they are banned forever, but make them come in how everyone else has to.

As far as the Mexican strikes, flag, and anthem go... I can't say I'm a fan. I think if you immigrate or atleast want to prosper in any country you should embrace their culture not try to force your's onto them. I understand learning another language is difficult, especially as you get older, but I think the immigrants should try. If I moved to France I wouldn't expect everything in a store to be written in English. The whole changing our anthem and flying another flag while saying we should embrace you in our country is a slap in the face.

I got those numbers off of a CNN show i was watching and I have no reason to make numbers up on the internet

The "spanish national anthem" isn't a direct translation, it has multiple changes in it. I'm looking for some info now.

Yeah, the strikes are ridiculous. It's completley not helping their cause. If anything they are persuading people to hire legals, because at least you can deal with unions... it's hard to deal with peopel w/o a direct leadership.

There's no way you can make a direct translation, but I'm sure the important parts are there. It's impossible to make it literal.

By the way, CNN isn't always correct. They are VERY bias, just as all news channels are. No biggy.

Its not the jobs that illegal immigrants are doing that concerns me, its the jobs they are TAKING!!! I currently make $14.03 an hour driving a forklift, and I am damn grateful for it. But as soon as some illegal immigrant comes in, they all come in, and everyone that I work with, including myself, will be out a job because the board members of my company won't care about the people who they are replacing, they will care about the money they are saving. Illegal immigration will kill this country's economy, and will leave millions without a job, that is a fact. And I am not talking about the ones who don't want to work, Im talking about the ones who had jobs, and were replaced with cheap labor.

What kills me about immigration in general is how most of the commercialized places in this country are willing to bend over backwards for immigrants. Spanish is on everything now, not just english. Gotta be bilingual to get anywhere anymore. Willing to give them breaks on so many things, especially taxes. And when most immigrants come over here, they cheat the system, making a good intention seem like an a** raping at our expense. When my great-grandparents came to this country from eastern Europe, they didn't have polish, greek, and macedonian translations on everything. But I will tell you something they did. Within one hour of being in this country, and coming off a boat in New York in the mid 1910's, they both signed up for the military. Both served in an army of a country they didn't know for more than an hour. Both my great-grandfather and his brother served in WWI. They loved the idea and the opportunity that this country had to offer so much that they were willing to serve a country they hardly knew firsthand. Oh, and BTW, they also learned how to SPEAK ENGLISH!!!

If there are immigrants that want to come here, fine by me, my family hasn't been here that long, but do something for the rest of us, QUIT CHEATING THE SYSTEM, SPEAK ENGLISH, AND CONTRIBUTE!!!!!

People that say this country was base on immigrants there are wrong notice that the settlers didn’t left there country to get in to another one they try to find new land that no one own. I’m a immigrant came to US abut 7 years ago from Europe.

All of the illegal immigrants shod be sent to there counter I don’t care abut the jobs there doing or how many of them are in U.S.A what comes to what they have broke a low and if you break a low you have to pay the price.

They are trying to bully the U.S citizen just because there are so many of them.

And to answer the question how to protect our borders this is what u do

Put a fence be twin the Mexico and U.S. border and if someone is gone try to jump it Shot him, Simple that what would happen in any other country but because the next day so much of the Mexicans are gone run all over the streets and protest no one has the bolls to do it.

the only way my dad could get here was to join the NAVY which he did for 20 years(Im filipino), and my grandpa(mom) got his kids over slowly but surely. If your here legally and work hard great.

and we should follow the advice of Steven Colbert and just start singing spanish songs in English :p

and yah i completely agree the stirke will only hurt em. if i were their boss...fired. my friend pumped gas that morning and the cashier lady was Mexican and jokingly he said, "hey, your not supposed to be here today" she laughed and said, "hey, i gotta support my kids"

send all immigrants back to mexico illegal or not, they are taking over the USA and like mentioned before all of our jobs, cheating the system and half of em are sittin in prison wasting our tax dollars(those little "gangbaners" and "hardass "essays" "..........plus, about their work habits, half the ****ing time, say when your drivin on the hwy and see a work crew "working", or supposed to be(getting paid to be), their all mexicans with the exception of the boss, and their never working, never once have i seen them actually working when ive driven by, there all in a circle sittin down or standin and talkin about how their cheating and ripping off the economy here in AMERICA, not mexico, where they belong!!!!
