Firebird on Life Support....

umm yep... so i was driving down the road today throwin in some job applications and its like the busiest street during lunch time... 3 lanes each way with a turn lane in the middle... i was in the far right lane going north and some motherf**ker going south tried to shoot all the way across the three lanes of northbound traffic to make it into a restaurant... well lets just say the son of a ***** didnt make it.... ok... so before we get to that part.... lets get details... im in my 98 mystic teal metalic bird doin prolly about 25 but slowing down anyways for traffic ahead and this motherf**cker was driving a 95 f-150 extended cab which is pretty much a tank.... my poor plastic front end didnt stand a chance and my hood is gone.... i'll get pics tomorrow when i go by but i hit the front corner on his passenger side like from the wheel forward with most of my drivers side.... like my bumper is in like 3 pieces, headlight is layed out, hood is a complete wreck, drivers side fender is in like 10 different positions... of course both fenders have been pushed back into the doors so the passenger side doesnt open anymore and the driverside isnt much better... didnt actually damage the wheels or tires and the airbags didnt deploy plus the windshield is still good... plus the passenger side isnt broken at all, just pushed back from the bumper... and i couldnt pop the hood to see what happened under there.... i know it must of killed my radiator because all my antifreeze was on the ground under it... it was still driveable enough to get it off the road but not sure if anything else underhood is damaged... mostly just cosmetic it looks like... but already 3 people have said it'll probably be totalled... so my insurance adjuster is going out to look at it in the morning and will give me a call and see what we're gonna do... i see it as a few different choices...

1. just let em total it.... pull my stereo out of it and let em have it... and walk away with a check... i dont wanna do this because i love this car with a passion... its perfect for me but it is showing its age at 110,000 miles...

2. if they do total it, buy it back from em and rebuild... maybe do a performance build with the extra money id have... i would love to do this and would in a heartbeat except i dont see how feasible it is... id have to have a place to do the work and the time and i just really dont have the time... plus i need a car right now....

3. start praying now that they dont total it out and that they'll fix it... i was in need of a front bumper anyways and i could always go for a ram air hood... plus im sure my airconditioner was broken in the wreck... i mean i swear it worked before.... and the motor itself has been runnin a little weird... but im sure thats from the wreck too... im kinda shootin for this option cause i would get to keep my car PLUS it would be better then before... lol

so yep... overall a ****ty day... and then the fvckin cop wanted to take the other dudes side and start harrasing me like yeah your driving a sports car so you must have been speeding... almost taking the other dudes side and i was like WTF!?! he turned across 3 lanes of traffic and im the one that caught him... how the hell am i at fault? is it because i work my *** off for my car only to have it taken away by some dumbass mescan who shouldnt be in this country anyways? of course im at fault... i drive a sportscar... never mind that i can drive better then most of the people on the damn road... FVCK that cop and FVCK that worthless mescan piece of sh!t.... and then the first time i called his insurance they hadnt even filed a claim because they said the cop didnt specify who was at fault and they would have to wait on the police report... so i called my insurance and my dude was like hell no they didnt... he was like i will call them back right now and get a claim done so that we can get you a rental car through them... or for the $499 deductible, we'll get you in a rental today and completely fix your car for you.... that was tempting except i dont have 500 bucks so not really an option... plus why the hell should i pay anything if im the victim here? WTF!?!? so yeah as you can tell im pissed.... haha... sorry this is a long post and sorry for the rantings here towards the end... dont take anything personal... later ya'll... oh i'll keep things updated with the progress... so my bird isnt dead yet but on the life support for sure....

a lady hit my car a little over a year and a half ago, t-boned the whole front driver side all the way back until right up to the wheel. the insurance calculated it as a total loss. i was pissed. i bought the car about 2 months prior. Got it from a honda dealership of all places with 68k miles on it (low mileage for the year). Its a 96 3.8 5-speed and its black, i couldnt beat it, just what i was looking for. Everything was in mint condition, the car had one owner and was garaged its whole life, and well maintained. Bought it for 5k with a 1 year warranty!! Anyhow, i bought the car back and fixed the thing myself, had a buddy of mine repaint the whole car so everything matched. Best decision I ever made. The car looks brand new now. Just as if it rolled off the lot in 96. I had money to throw around on parts too when i was done. I actually made money! Question you need to ask yourself is how much is it worth to you? By the way you described it, its totaled. I had plans for my car, and i wasn't going to let some lady screw them up for me. If you decide to fix it, dont settle on one persons decision about what it is worth, go get a couple estimates from different places, and try to get as many used parts as possible. If it ISNT totaled...go around to a couple of places and get it estimated and take the estimate that is the HIGHEST. Go give it to the other persons insurance company, and they will cut you a check for that amount. Then go out and buy dirt cheap parts and rebuild it yourself. You will save a tonnnnnn of money on labor and even more if you use used parts. I would expect you to have $1,000 left to spend on aftermarket parts when it is all said and done.

That sucks dude. My heart sank when I read it was a mystic teal metalic bird. Good luck getting everything sorted out. Keep us updated when you hear if it will be totaled.

If the radiator is busted then it did more than cosmetic damage. I'm gonna guess it's totalled.

Well, perhaps he is just saying that out of anger right now and really isn't a racist. It is just how he feels right now. So chill and get over it, no need to fight about it.

As for your accident, that really sucks. Hopefully everything works out well for you. Sounds to me like you need to take the money and buy yourself something new since you don't have the time or place to work on it yourself.

why do you say that? i dont agree with ya. the engine is probably fine.

One time I bought a Tbyrne SS ram-air hood for $1000. The bodyshop considered that as my $500 deductible.
The cops always think you're in the wrong cause you have a "Race Car" which its really slow as hell. All show and no go. When you get wrecked, everybody looks at you like your stupid for fvcking up such a beautiful car (as if it was your fault). I have never been in a wreck where it was my fault.

get pics up and we can all give you an idea if its totalled or not.david had pic's of his car up and so have I, and both of our's were totalled. but the way you described it, it sounds totalled.
