  • new car.. again

as some of you know.. i recently traded in my v6 firebird on a mustang gt after i blew a head gasket running a 100 shot in the firebird.

since then i have been using the mustang as my daily driver which is costing a fortune with the gas prices the way they are. I do a lot of driving around and getting 14 miles to the gallon catches up pretty quickly. Last month alone i spent 600 in gas so i decided to start looking for a more economical car that will get better gas mileage.

I've always wanted an SRT-4 and this weekend i am going down to check one out and possibly drive away with it...

has 10k miles on it and its still covered under the factory warranty.. the place is only askng 16k for it which is a pretty good deal.. all the other low mileage SRT-4s are going for around 18-20k in my area

trading cars in like this over and over does that cause you to be upside down in the loans?

Well what are you placing more of a priority on, fuel effeciancy or fun? It is hard to have the best of both worlds, but the SRT4 is an ok choice. I would say it leans a little to much on the fun side, but it all depends on how much gas you are willing to sacrifice for fun.... oh and the silver car, what is that anyway, a honda? :)

i am about 800 over on the trade in value of my mustang.. i have 2500 for a down payment so to answer your question yes, but i saved up some money to compensate for it.. hopefully this car will be one i stick with for a long time to come because i lost my orignal down payment on the mustang + the 800 over I am which is a little over 3000

a black WS-6 just got put up for sale down the street from me for 16995.. i stopped to look at it and i am so tempted to buy it.. but i really need a car that gets good gas mileage.. that WS-6 probablly gets worse gas mileage then my mustang.. but it is a manual.. which is another one of the real reason i want to trade the auto mustang in.. oh and right next to it is a used 03 vette for 17995.. haha over 100k miles though which is to much

The WS6 might actually get better gas mileage. I think the 6-speeds were rated at 17 city and 28 or 29 highway. Still not great, but are you really going to save three grand in gas soon enough to make either car worth it?

My friend with an 05 GT stick averages around 13, but when he tried to be easy on it he got something like 16.

now i love all neons, and you are a car whore, and the reason why your getting suck cr@py gas milage is because you probably drive crazy, (you should change gears at 2rpms in that car) anyways, you are going to run into the same probably with the neon, cause you will want to spool all day long. but hey waht do i know. ehhehe

                          nice pick!

                            Re: new car.. again

just got back from the dealership and test drove 2 SRT-4s one was an 03 the other was an 04. the 04 was running 15 lbs of boost and was pretty quick for a 4 cylinder.. quicker then my GT.. if i keep this car below 3000 RPMs the turbo doesn't spool at all and it will get around 30 mpg..

I am buying the black 04' SRT-4.. has 17,000 miles on it with the factory warranty still going.. on monday the dealer is driving down the car to finish up the deal at my house because my mom is co-signing and she was on call today and couldn't go up and tomorrow they're closed.. they have all the information and got the loan approved just need signatures.

oh.. and just to give an idea of how expensive it is to put gas in my mustang.. for a 60 mile round trip i just spent $25 in gas before i left and it is on empty again.

                            can't wait to drive a 5-speed again :D

14.2 from the factory. but they my car should have done mid 15's and only could do 17.1, so good luck
