  • The loss of a friend and co-worker

P/O Skerski was a close friend and co-worker of mine since I have been stationed at the 15th district.
He was working an Overtime Detail from 6pm to 2am for the "Safe Streets Program", and responded to a Robbery In Progress call at 10:17pm. He and his partner arrived at the scene at 10:19pm, got out of their vehicle, the driver took the front and Skerski took the side/rear. As Skerski approached the rear door, it swung open with a B/M pointing a sawed-off shotgun at the Officer and had him at Point Blank Range. They estimate it was probably within 3 ft. The B/M pulled the trigger releasing Buckshot into the Officer's throat, then fired at the other office who was attempting to come from the front of the bar.
Witness's say that the two males were in the bar telling everyone "this isn't F*cking Haloween MutherF*ckers! Now put your wallets, money and jewelry in the bag before I blow your heads off!" The male even made one of the hostages tap the ATM Machine that was located in the bar. A female was in the bathroom and heard all of this going on, so she called 911 from the stall.

It is a great loss to all of us who knew and loved him. This job sucks sometimes!

My condolences go out to you and their family. Hearing stories like this sucks.

Yesterday I had to sit in traffic for 2 hours to go about 10 miles to get home. I was all pissed at the time, but later found out that some jackass kid went to the police station about 3 blocks from my office and opened fire in the parking lot. 1 officer was kill and two more were injured. It made me feel bad about getting mad for sitting in traffic.

Wow thats a pretty rough deal. You know i actually thought about joining the police force, but it was hearing stuff like this on the news that changed my mind. For what they do the police get almost no respect at all (especially with younger people), which quite frankly is very sad :(. Concidering that they already have one of the most stressful jobs in the world they really don't need **** like that to happen. My condolences to your buddy's family.

Its always so sad to hear stuff like this happen. I get pissed at the police sometimes but tehy got a job to do, and i give them alot of respect for that. The worst part about the whole thing is that from the sounds of things, the guy could've probably just fired a warning shot or two and ran away scot-free, but instead he kills a guy (probably a dad) who'se just doing his job....
