Re: drive the speed limit, its dangerous

I'd like to know if they actually accomplished anything by that. Cuz i can just imagine the senators watching that video going: "uh... ok, whatever". Besides those people really proved absolutely nothing other than that most people don't like to drive the speed limit. I mean it was pretty obvious that the only danger there was the idiots passing on the shoulder and the angry guy in the truck... not really a strong argument in my opinion.

Now if someone really wanted to prove something they should make a video pointing out the dangers of merging onto freeways at anything less than 60-65mph. I see it everyday: idiots who want to merge at 45mph, and cause massive amounts of traffic (especially around rush hour) and many potential accidents. Infact i saw this this morning going to work: some douche bag was attempting to merge at 35mph... 35! Which was actually 10mph slower than the on ramp speed limit. Concidering that he didn't actually speed up any until he was completely on the freeway its a miracle somebody wasn't hurt.

from what i recall from hearing the story before they were able to convince the state to raise the speed limit on that road from 55-60/65(i forget which). the video proved that going that speed with the volume of cars driving on that road at that time, was going to cause a major traffic jam.

I've watched people merge onto the ramp at 35-40mph....I slow down abit so they have a little room to come in, and they're doing around 1/2 the speed I am and don't want to speed up. That's why I always merge at around 70-80mph and never leave the fast lane :D

Around here, if you never left the fast lane, you would be stuck doing 55 -60 because that is where EVERYONE drives. The granny lane always moves much faster because it is mostly vacant.

BTW, keep right except to pass. :poke:

Why is it so hard for people to realise the passing lane is for... passing  . I know the terminology is very tricky.

Why are you telling him to keep right except to pass? He said he gets on the freeway at 70/80mph and then never leaves the fast lane, meaning he is passing the hell out of people.

People in teh STL aren't too bad about that, its usually pretty good actually.

At 70, there will be somebody who wants to pass him and will have to pass on the right (like me). I don't care if he's passing the hell out of people. If he's holding up just one, he should yield. Furthermore, it sets a good example for all of the losers out there.

Those stupid kids are lucky they didnt get ran off the road, it would have been funny, and no-one would have done anything about it.... Infact the way the laws are written they could have gotten a ticket for careless driving, for driving so slow in fast rate traffic... And I don't know where they did that, but here in Minnesota, you would have gotten plowed off the road, and ticketed for pulling a stunt like that... Not saying driving the speed limit is stupid but damn they pushed thier luck a little far.

Hmm, I'll give you an "internet high five" for that too.

Unless you are approaching 90 to the point where you are changing lanes constantly, get the f*** over.
