i'm discouraged

it just discourages me every time i see a comercial of a 265 horsepower hundai sedan, or a ford fusion with a 6 speed auto, what is this world coming to... the camaro has to come back and show whos boss.... in the meantime i need to get some sort of FI :(

Nah, you don't want the camaro to come back. Think about it, its not going to make your current car any better... well ...'cept maybe by association. And besides, eventually our cars will become classics... i would severly doubt that about cars mundane as the fusion or ANY hyundai!

yeah, i just want to make my car fast and last forever! i hope i never have to get rid of my bird, i'll need a beater though, and then a lot more money to make my bird faster!

Fast isnt everything. At the end of the day Id rather drive a 200hp camaro than a 270hp hyundai.

when you say "our cars", i hope your not reffering to v6's, because eventually our cars will not become classics simply because we have v6's, nothing agianst anyone, hell i have a v6, but its only because i couldnt pass up the deal i got on it, and when i can afford a z28 or ss ima be on that like ugly on diane keaton................back on topic, yea, it makes me sick to see all these newer 250+hp v6 cars, and to think i have a camaro w/only 200hp

I doubt they'll ever be valuable, but I think V6 Camaros could be considered classics someday. Is a 1st generation Camaro or Mustang not considered a classic if it has a 6 cylinder engine?

I think no one gives a crap about the base models cars. the only thing our cars will be good for is the modify like we do muscle cars from the past. I do not think our cars will be valuable

I'd like to eventually get a SS but I am happy with my 6, especially the way gas prices are now. If I want speed, I'll ride my sportbike. I got this car because it simply is a hot looking car, no matter what is under the hood.

im discouraged too. horsepower is becoming cheaper and cheaper these days. and yea so what are cars arent that fast. but were camaro enthusiasts who love our cars and thats what matters. not that we have a 6 or an 8. but all of us have nice cars, much of them being much nicer than the new hyundai or focus or whatever else is new out there. dont let it get you down too much. if it makes you feel better.. stick your car up next to one of those and ask yourself which one youd rather have. i think youd say YOUR car.

"Fast" is relative, as are HP numbers. So what if a minivan has 250hp and can do a 1/4 mile in 15 seconds? Will you ever see a soccer mom doing a burn out in the elementary school parking lot? The HP is only there if you use it. The elderly gentleman who buys a cadillac to go to the grocery store probably won't even hit the max HP curve even if his car has 300hp.

That 263 hp Azera is beautiful. You know my side of the family owns a lot of BMW's and Mercedes and that Azera is more bang for the buck.

It's luxurious and drives really nice. The exterior/interior looks really classy. It's so surpises how fast Hyundai is picking up. I heard that the next gen. Tiburon would have a 280hp V6.

But yeah it isn't a fun car though like the f-body.

Oh come now, don't be so negative :) Besides when it comes to a classic, whats under the hood is largely irrelevent, its all about age, style, and how well kept up your car is. Case in point the Camaros/Firebirds from the late 70s: For cars born out of the "ugly" decade they're remarkably pretty, especially the Firebirds, and I for one would concider them classics, or at least classics in the making (despite having laughable amounts of horsepower). Or how about the old VW bug? Millions of them were made, and most of them are pieces of crap, but those that were well maintained/restored actually look pretty good, and i'd also concider them classics. So you see there is more to it than just being the top of the line model, or being extremely fast, its about looking good 30 or 40 years from now, regardless of whether 4 bangers can blow by you like you're standing still. Now don't get me wrong, i'm sure that the V8s will fetch much higher prices just as they do now, but our cars will still be given respect for being what they are: Beautiful pieces of machinery.

(on a final note: Talking about the long run i'd much rather have a 4th gen camaro than the new 5th gen. I'd be willing to bet the world that the new 'maro will be all but worthless 30 years down the line)
