  • dead pixel policy for Acer?

ok so I have been looking for a new moniter mainly because my old 18" sucks for gaming now. here are the specs for the old one lol

anyway I have been looking at this one by Acer and I have been wondering what their dead pixel policy is and how it compares to other manufactures.. I have been lucky with my microtek and never had a dead pixel.

Re: dead pixel policy for Acer?

I wouldn't be too worried about dead pixels nowdays. I've never had one out of four laptops and a Samsung 19" in the last three years, and from what I've seen they happen quickly enough that you could just return it.

When I was working at Circuit City the only one I ever noticed an issue with was this Starlogic that I'd already decided was a piece of crap. A coworker called me over to show me the dead pixels on the thing when he plugged it in, and before I could say "What a piece of crap" I saw two more die. They have that Acer for $225 if you buy it online though. The tax is probably less than shipping, and at least you can return it if it has issues out of the box.

Re: dead pixel policy for Acer?

For some reason notebook displays are much less likely to ship with dead pixels. The only real explanation is that they defect out screens with dead pixels, whereas most of the monitor manufacturers release any unit that has less dead pixels than their policy covers.

I have owned 4 notebooks and never once seen a dead pixel. The first LCD screen I purchased had one (and its a ViewSonic). Several of the LCDs at work have one or more dead pixels, but none of the laptops do.
