Re: james, there are a few people that need silenced
Looks like a majority of them are cool with a v6, but there are some serious haters on there too. I belong to that site as well (they sell ALOT of parts really cheap) and when I introduced myself to them and told them I had a v6, nobody talked smack or anything, they happily said welcome. I dont really care what an LS1 guy thinks of my car anyhow. Its personal preference. :)
Re: james, there are a few people that need silenced
wow...didn't realize this was such a hot topic on ls1 forums. Honestly, who cares what most of them have to say anyways? I consider myself an automobile enthusiast, and I know some of you may hate that I have to say this but, ITS JUST A CAR afterall! I think some of us need to remind ourselves that once in a while.
Re: james, there are a few people that need silenced
Ya know, I heard a very good quote on this board from 1998Silverbird. It went something like this:
FYI: 1998Silverbird had nitrous on his car and it was pretty dam fast
"In my bird I would beat guys with v8's and they would say 'Wait til I get my new exhaust, I'll kill your v6!' Then with a turn of a wrench I would have another 30 hp, then the v8 guys would say 'Wait til I get my nitrous hooked up and THEN I will kill your v6!' I would then say 'Wow, you need nitrous to beat my v6 with your v8?' "
It went something like that, thats not EXACTLY as he said it, but I couldnt find the post. I live by that quote and I took it to heart and will probably use it from time to time. Just something to think about.
Hopefully, 1998Silverbird is reading this cuz he can tell that story better than I can. ;)
Re: james, there are a few people that need silenced
Most of the v8 guys i know who are actually automobile enthusiasts embrace any fbody, bc it has the same potential just in a different form. Sure a v6 might take a bit more money and time to get that 2 seconds it lacks behind the v8 but in the long run you have a more unique and respected car in my mind. My step father owns an 02 ram air and all of his buddies own 4th gen v8's and all of them are the most supportive people I have met when it comes to me fixin' up a 6. The only reason v8 people get mad I think is because they are scared of the times being posted on this site ; )
Re: james, there are a few people that need silenced
"Its all about how you drive it. Its the same as people who drive civics and cavaliers really. Understand the car is NOT fast, its NOT cool, and you do NOT look like a badass in it, and people will respect you."
Comming from the guy who has a 96 Mustang GT... I see, so once you have a V8 you are all of that right? I hope he realizes his car is NOT fast, its NOT cool, and he does NOT look like a badass in it. I hope he takes his own advice.
Re: james, there are a few people that need silenced
Sorry, im posting again, but is this true?
"I just dont see the point in paying more for insurance already and then not enjoying the V8. There are a lot faster cars than a V6 Camaro for the same $$$."
Im pretty sure the cars that are "a lot" faster cost considerably more...
You know, I don't even own my 6 anymore... but people like that still irk me. Us 6'ers who moved up to the 8's... we know the truth cause we been there! :)
Re: james, there are a few people that need silenced
I try not to read threads like that. There is no reasoning with them and it just gets me all worked up. Everyone knows it's not worth the money unless it's a V12. Why buy a f-body when you can buy a Ferrari. It's worth the little extra money...

Yeah but getting worked up keeps this stuff interesting! It's a good read. :p
But don't get me wrong, signing up over there just to defend yourself is retarded and I hope none of you run over to do that... :) Just let them be so we can watch from the side lines!

how about 30 bucks more a year for my 2000 camaro than my JEEP LIBERTY! how about we compare that to the $1100 increase per year the insurance company wanted for a 2000 SS.... i guess i have money falling out of my *** to pay for this V8?! ok now that im calm.... im planning on getting a V8 as soon as i get out of college. but until then its nice to not pay for gas and insurance on a V8, my camaro actually gets better mileage than my jeep did, and is alot more fun to drive. it may not be the fastest thing in the world, but its a great car IMHO

Hey Silver... just want to verify that you know I was quoting someone and that was not me... Haha.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
