I don't know so much about underrated, as much as it needed a few things to really bring it to life.

I thought they simply tuned down the vette engine... just because you can't have a camaro running around with as much horsepower as a vette... GOD FORBID!!! :eek:

And the new 3.8 Series 3 is 260hp, and it is possible for them to bring back the 4.3 for this car, maybe a super charged 3.5? Who has a clue what they may be using.

all the new engines are smaller, but yet put out way more horsepower. I used to think my N/A 3.8L was new technology, now my grandfather's N/A 3.5L v6 can eat it for lunch.

Thats what I mean, a V6 doesn't mean anything anymore and nor does size.

Infact I wonder whats taking the American auto companies so long to realize this. Ferrari *I like to use them for examples because they pioneer alot of new stuff* used alot of around 2-3 liter V10s and V12s, and has them juicing 600-800hp without turbos, and blowing away even the factory rated gas millage on the new Corvette, now take them to the track and the Vette has nothing on it, granted we all know the price difference, but aluminum is aluminum, a mold is a mold, how long is it going to take for the American companies to catch up?

Heck a Bmws 545I basic model costs a little less than a Vette and comes with a mashing like 435hp in '02 I think it was in a 4.4L V8 and got better gas millage, performs better with the M suspension package, safer, and weighs more.

Honestly, I think its pretty crappy if they produce the new Camaro with a 260 hp SUPERCHARGED v6. Weaksauce considering Nissan has a 3.5 v6 that makes 260 N/A, Honda has a 3.0 v6 which makes 244 N/A and Mitsubishi has a 3.8 that makes 263 N/A. Seems like GM cant keep up if they have to supercharge it.

Dont get me wrong, I love American cars and I love the new Camaro, but I think by 2008/9 they should be able to produce a 250 hp N/A v6.

i don't think the new V6 Camaro will be supercharged. relying on a supercharger to outpower the competition would be a big mistake, and GM knows this. it's like comparing a stock 03/04 cobra to a stock 02 Camaro SS. sure the cobra is faster stock for stock, but since it's supercharged to begin with, it ain't ****. throw a supercharger on a Camaro SS and there's no more comparison.

Thats also a good point, but who knows what they will do, and its very possible for them to have built a bad a$$ 3.5 or 3.9 v6 n/a for the car to compete with fords new 4L

What would you own? 260 hp supercharged 3.8L or a new 350Z motor that makes 300 hp N/A?

Easy, supercharged 3.8L, simple mods, and you will tear the piss out of a 350Z which on average are stuck in the 13s even with heavy mods, yet while people pushed the 3.8L into the 10s.



And an SS vs a 03/04 cobra...

uhm they don't call it the terminator for a reason? 500 hp, for like $1k worth of parts? Thats just sick.
