I wouldn't get my hopes up, because im pretty sure GM wouldn't be too awfuly concerned with how well their economy version camaro keeps up with competition. Thats the whole point of the V8. Why add a charger to the 6 or put a high powered V6 in and drive up the cost? The point is to be affordable to keep sales high like the Mustang. Besides, I notice a few of you quoting high hp numbers on 6's but are not realizing that's the top end version of the car. The economy version shouldn't be competing with these cars if the V8 can be had at costs lower then import 6's, 4's, rotaries and all the while still stomp them (With the exception of the STi, most likeley tie performance).

Infact I wonder whats taking the American auto companies so long to realize this. Ferrari *I like to use them for examples because they pioneer alot of new stuff* used alot of around 2-3 liter V10s and V12s, and has them juicing 600-800hp without turbos, and blowing away even the factory rated gas millage on the new Corvette, now take them to the track and the Vette has nothing on it, granted we all know the price difference, but aluminum is aluminum, a mold is a mold, how long is it going to take for the American companies to catch up?

Blowing away factory rated gas mileage? Ferrari and good gas mileage are never in the same sentence. Ferrari's best mileage is 17 highway... An insanely wound up motor like that does not get good mileage, reguardless of how many liters it is. That goes for jap 4's and 6's too.

I should have been more defined on that, on gas in Italy...

But never the less and beyond, I'm not saying GM doesn't make a good FI engine, friend of mine has a GTP pushing 250k miles now, and runs great, but its one more piece that can wear, and when pushing them heavily *beyond the normal 20-50 hp gain* they wear your engine faster, because its a fake way of getting power, as some of the old guys I know like to say.

I am in full agreement with there is no replacement for displacement and a well built engine.

a fake way to get horsepower I don't even know what to call that. So if I have any sort of FI or even nitrous i should just quit at life and /it because i had to cheat to get any sort of power.... :(

Hes saying that higher boost (not factory boost) will wear your engine faster. Why? I dont know, maybe because of higher RPMS and more strain on the engine... I really dont know. Has anyone run higher boost for the whole life of the car?
GM also made the "Ultra", its a grandma car, forgot the name of it, but its a supercharged 3800.

Not FAKE as in doesn't work or you should quit. Too many people demand long term engines, with proper maintanence 300k miles is not unheard of anymore. Its not a n/a engine any longer, I'm not saying that its crap or you shouldn't do it. But there are plenty of strong honest reasons for GM not to implement it into the standard V6 coupe version. Not something I thought a whole lot about until some of the others here brought them up.

here is an example...


Local guy with a S2000 240 hp stock 4 banger. has a big fat vortech supercharger on it with other supporting mods.





Now look at a SRT-4, with a 215hp stock 4 banger. It will cost WAY less to get that up to 300 hp, and it will be more reliable since it can take the added boost since its a lower compression motor.

If you want an s2000 go buy the thing and then order the Spoon racing motor for it, and give it a rest. But once you are done spending that kinda cash, dump the entire idea on that joke of a car.

Its honda's shot at a Roadcar, just like the Soltice, BMW Z3-Z4, everyone is trying to get a piece of the old Nissan/Datson Z cars, and no one can really do it.

I think its something around there high 13's low 14's..

But never the less its a crap car, its one of honda's lowest rated cars on the market. It has constant problems, it falls apart on itself. I have driven a few, and they can be fun to drive, but I wouldn't touch one with a 10' poll..

The simulated racing is a crock of ****. You can just tell by the trap speeds. Sorry, the GT500 traps 12mph lower than the BEST track time I've EVER heard of.
