  • I miss my Firebird.

About two weeks ago I traded my 98 Firebird in towards an 04 Silverado. I just bought a house back in March so having a truck is extremely useful! I also have a 89 F150 that started taking a crap on me. In the past few days we got my F150 running like a champ!

Now I'm in a pickle. I LOVE my Silverado but I don't think I need it as much as I thought I did. I've had the truck for a few weeks and honest to God I've only driven it like three or four times. I haven't even started it in over a week. My fiancee and I carpool to work, so I'm quite lucky with saving all the gas money. I just don't use my new truck! Since I got my F150 running great I'm stuck with a payment on another truck that I don't really need. I don't need a truck to drive everyday. I only use a truck when I need to move something, when I pull my boat, when I pick a load of wood pellets up, ect. I want a car again!

We had been working on my F150 for a while before I bought the Silverado. I thought all hope was lost for my F150 until it stopped over heating and the gas mileage greatly improved. I was ready to sell my F150 to a co-worker as a first vehical.

I'm thinking of selling my Silverado. I so wish I had gotten my F150 running this well when I still had my Firebird. I would still have my Firebird. Yes- the car I worked so many summers to earn. The car I thought I would keep forever. The car I dreamt of having the first time I saw it when they first came out. I can't believe I actually let my Firebird out of my sight! I miss my car so much. I got $8000 for my Firebird from the dealership. They took it to the auction!! :( How sucky is that. I wonder how much it sold for.

If/When I get rid of the Silverado I'm going to get a 98-02 Formula or Trans Am. I've always loved the later 4th gens so much. My fiancee has a Chevy Cobalt, which is absolutely great on gas. We work almost the same hours so I drop her off every morning and then I run off to work. We're averaging about 33 miles per gallon. After the Silverado is gone money will NOT be a problem. I'll have enough money to be able to buy a 98ish Trans Am outright.

Sorry if this is long, redundant, boring, and pointless. I've had a rough couple of days. Dang, I wish I still had my Firebird...I just can't believe I let it go....what was I thinking :( Anyone else out there ever get rid of their car that they LOVED for the reason they thought they'd be bettering theirself? And then in the long run realized they might of made mistake? I need to get some sleep, I'm awfully tired. Someone talk to me....

Well if you have the F150 running, you muight as well grab a T/A. It's nice to have trucks, but If you have two and only need one.... than sell it.

heres your chance to get a trans am. y not? you have another truck. you carpool to work and the new truck sits there. ok say you buy a trans am and the truck takes a **** on you again, oh well buy a used one instead. still a truck and you'll still get a lot of use out of it. why not its worth the shot. plus you know you cant live without an F-body.:naughty:

Everglades W68 - I think I just might do that! I NEED a Firebird again.

flyfrito_SS - Yup, the F150 is tearing it up now. So the Chevy will be for sale soon! Hello Trans Am!

vanbibber - Wow, isn't that the truth. I never thought I'd actually miss a car, but damn, I REALLY wish I still had my old Firebird.

            99camaro-3.8 - Good points, and I know I can't live without an F-Body! haha!

Now my next question is.....how the heck do I sell a truck thats only two years old...who the heck has twenty grand sitting around :( Selling this truck might be harder than I thought...

They don't need 20 large hanging around. My credit union gives loans for private sales.

After buying my bimmer, so many times I contemplated selling my FB. My commuter actually had more HP than my "sports car"! But I could never bring myself to sell her. Now, I finally have the money to get some major mods done, and the wife needed the bimmer for commuting. So now I am driving the FB every day again and love it (except when it rains).

Sell the truck. Buy an F-body. And if you ever try to sell her, we will point you to this thread. :)

                Re: I miss my Firebird.

Sell the Silverado now while you can get the most out of it, pocket whatever cash you get and look for the right deal on a Firebird, maybe even a Trans Am. That's what I would do.

****If you don't need it, why keep it and let the value depreciate????*****

Ditch the truck, I hate them as daily drivers....

How should I advertise my Silverado? You guys think using the net works? All I can think of is www.autotrader.com. Or should I go with putting an ad in the newspaper? Or doing it the old fashioned way of putting a "For Sale" sign on it and putting it in my front yard? I live in a moderately busy area, so a fair amount of people would see it. Any opinions welcome! Once the truck is gone another navy blue Bird will be mine! This time a Formula or Trans Am though! :)
