Anybody see team USA play today? What a joke, the Czech's took it 3-0 and scored the first goal within the first five minutes. Renya got close, hitting the post, but other than that barely anybody did anything. We had way to big of a gap between our backs and fowards, making way to much open space in the midfield. It seems like that is the way Americans play soccer though....
Yeah the Czech's just eat them up. Mexico yesterday did awesome against Iran. That's it, we've got to give those Mexican players green card in order to play here. :D

The americans just dont have enough experience. its not realistic to expect them to keep up with teams who have been playing together for so long, and who grew up in cultures where everything is centered around soccer.
the americans just couldnt close on the goal, its not like they were playing terribly.

and i have no words for the people who think that america is going to beat italy (the announcers...)

Its not like America has not played a world cup before. Sure, Americans are in the early stages when it comes to having national club soccer teams (the MLS), but after getting to the quarterfinals last year and being able to choose out of homegrown talent, there were high expectations.

you cant really assume that. You never know when the tables will turn. However, you do have a point that American soccer players are not experienced as other soccer centered countries, but that still doesnt mean they dont have a chance.

Soccer is exiting, I was in England when France won (eight years ago, I think) And the excitment over there is 10000000 times more than here. I hope it starts catching on though, so much fun to watch.

The main reason I'm watching it is because I have a decent amount of money riding on it.

                      Re: World Cup

croatia played amazingly against brazil, that was a great game to watch. the togo v. s. korea was also pretty good.

what i was saying about experience is that italians grow up playing soccer. they learn to play when they learn to walk. when you watch them, you notice how amazingly smooth everything is, an ease of playing. its just their own style that is incredible, cant possibly compare them to USA.
they have also been playing without gattuso... so if he is back to play against america, that will just make it worse.

                        Yeah, i definatly meant 2002

Italy's "smoothness" of play can barely compare to Brazil's. The game they played yesterday was incredible and it wasn't even their greatest. They were constantly on the quick counter and can create offensive chances out of nowhere fast. But, they do have a weakness and it did show. If you can counter attack them as quickly as they do to you, all of their players will be up.

Anybody see the end to the Germany Poland game? Holy ****!! Two cross bars in the last minute, then a goal in injury time.

I bet Germany would hit post at least twice in the game.. that one play made me very happy.

Also after the game on ESPN they were playing dominos. WTF? And my friend told me awhile ago that he saw rock, paper, scissors.

That would be the ONLY reason why I would watch soccer. Other than that, watching grass grow is more fun.
