Cliff notes: College kids voted the iPod the #1 "in thing" this year. The poll has been conducted twice a year for the last 18 years and the only other time beer was beaten for the number one spot was in 97 when the internet rank #1.

thats funny, i dont ever remember them asking me what i like most in college... maybe they did a survey on the wrong schools, beer is top on my list, lol and then my car and i don't have an ipod so... ok.

thats why internet and ipods were so popular. The rest of the alcohol voting groups were busy out getting drunk and partying, and not on the internet voting the best thing in college.
