Re: A letter to the CEOs of Best Buy and GE

And the way you handled this during your time, makes you not worth their time.

I've been in customer service for a VERY long time, and if a letter showed up with that kind of language, or you "chewed out" people that probably didn't have ANY control over the situation...

"I'm sorry sir, you'll have to take your business elsewhere." Refund of money and good riddance.

I would have been MORE than happy with that outcome. This would have been resolved much sooner if I had my money back and went elsewhere. We are on our 5th week dealing with this. Although it seems to now be resolved.

Although, honestly, I'm not sure if I would even offer you your money back for using such uneducated language.

I actually chuckle to myself when I see management, or people dressed in business formal attire, cursing up a storm. So uneducated and childish.

does everyone really care about how a CEO feels?

I am having a debate with myself whether I should take offense to your comments. Whilst I do that, let me re-explain myself.

My letter both begins and ends politely and professionally. This was done to establish credibility and to ensure they knew I am educated. I did not start off with "Dear Asshats". I purposely changed my tone and my use of language to convey rage. Not anger, not displeasure, pure, un-abridged rage. To do this properly, I used trite language (I disagree with your "childish" categoriziation. Simplistic is a better descriptor.) If you heard how apologetic the chairman was to me, I would say I completely and successful accomplished my goal in conveying ALL of my points.

I am not sure why you would chuckle at management and people in formal attire that curse. Money nor education transform people into ultra-conservative tight wads. I work in a building full of Ph.Ds making craploads of money. Guess what, the bombs fly. Are they childish? no. Are they uneducated? Quite the contrary. It is accepted language when one is friggin pissed. It conveys the point much easier than "oh dear, Buffy. I do seem to have lost yet another squash game. I am so perturbed."

OK. So I decided not to take offense. :)

I dunno. I always thought that cursing like a sailor was something that teenagers and well, sailors do. I kinda grew out of it. By that I mean I don't feel the NEED to use trite language. Some people do.

LOL, see this just proves that really you are an easy goin guy who just wanted the CEO of G.E., ultimately my boss, know that this was a bogus situation that you tried to take care of yourself through the system but it did not work that way. Although I must say its not just sailors that speak that way. On the flightline in the Air Force the bombs fly like crazy, here at G.E they come out also. LOL

The CEO feels just fine. This stuff doesn't bother him at all. He has a job with actual stress and real worries. A customer swearing at him doesn't bother him one little bit.

The point is that ranting is not the most effective way to get a complaint resolved. Pretending to be calm and logical, even when you're not, just works better.
