  • Found a good deal on a Trans Am

Tell me if this isn't a good deal. I believe it is and have asked my parents what they think about it. My dad isn't too into me getting a new car, but my mom was like, "ooooo, it looks nice. What is it?" So that could be some hope. Anyways check it out at tell me what you think.

Seems like a good deal price wise. Can you afford insurance on a LS-1? Lord knows I can't :(

'98 and up F-bodies hold value well. That seems a good price for a low mile car. And the white will look beautiful in person. All the details on that car will "pop". If you can swing it, you should get it.

Yeah insurance would be a factor if I could get it or not and also I would sell my camaro which would be hard to do. It was my first car and even though its a v6 its hard thinking of giving it up. Mabey I should just wait untill I finish college (which I will be starting in the fall) in 5 years and then get the new camaro when it comes out.

AGH! so many thoughts in the head! Can't. Decide.

Don't know where you are going to college, but cars generally get beat up at schools. Not having a dream car will save you a little stress.

eh, i would be skeptical, when i was on my hunt i found several low miles for great prices, lets say after driving them the prices didnt look so great, the drivetrains tended to feel like they had a pretty hard life, nothing that i was ready to deal with, so i got a high mileage maintained one instead

There's no need to check for rpo codes. All automatics have 2.73's unless its a WS6 which would come with 3.23's and all six speeds have 3.42's.
Check the carfax on it first and make sure it hasn't been wrecked before. You can tell by looking closely to see if the car has been repainted before. A lot of times there's a reason for them being so cheap. Also make sure its a virgin one. You don't want to get one might've had a supercharger on it or was sprayed on, Check the plugs for ngk's. But if you're going to mod the car I would get an 01 or 02 simply because they come with the LS6 intake and no egr. 01 and 02's are about 1/2 a second faster in the 1/4 because of the intake. When I got my 2000 T/A and ran it at the track against my cousin's 01 stock T/A he was running .5 faster everytime. We were both stock and A4 and I could never get him.

So I talked to my dad again and he says that I can't afford it. He's right though I have to put my money towards college instead of a new car. Oh well... Looks like I'm staying with the maro for awhile. Thats okay though, cause I love my car.

:( That looks like a great deal. You might even be able to get them down some more on the price. I'd sell your car privately and get as much as possible for it. If not, well, then just wait til your out of school and working full-time. The 8 will cost you more in gas and insurance anyway.
