  • Does anybody know if Fiero needs premium gas?

It saids on the gas cap to put premium only. But this car only has an 8.9 compression.

Wouldn't an 87 be suitable? Or does it have something to do with the computer thing?

I also just found out that Auto only has 3 speed. I was kind of disappointed. I thought it had 4. The manual has 5 speed.

if it has upgraded internals like a cam, blower, turbo, yes. i would consult the owners manual. if in doubt, spend the extra couple dollars and put in premium.

I'm going to have to wait on the updates. I'm leaving it stock. I'm just waiting for Calif. emission to ease up on an old car like this and then I go for the GTP engine.

But for now the engine is pretty good, not very strong though, just good. Surprisingly, my 2.8 V6 Firebird is faster. I guess I need to do some tuning.

It feels weird driving this car, esp. when you make turns. I mean it's pretty quick on the corners and you feel the understeer instead of the oversteer.

The engine has 150k on it. I just ordered Haynes and Chilton from Amazon.com

I tried joining Penncock but that site is slow to pick up.

Savorybacon, if you found out for me that would be awesome. Thanks

With only 8.9 to 1 compression I just can't see it requiring 93 octane????

I would think.... 87 should be fine

I love Fieros! My friend and I made a bet that, if I could build up a Fiero that could beat the current Mustang (Ford guy) he is driving, I get his CAR! So when I'm rich I will have to build one up and smoke him. Ha.

It takes to getting use to driving it. You can get an insecure feeling when driving it in a busy FWY because the car is so small and so low. It makes you wonder if those trucks and SUVs can even see you.

Yeah I do see alot of potential with this car with a different drivetrain. The GT weighs about 2650lbs. Formula weighs about 2575lbs and 4 cyl. ones at 2435lbs.

With a GTP or a V8, I'm sure it will never weigh more than 2800lbs.
