  • Pontiac Pursuit???

So this person posted on my CarDomain, and I looked at his profile, and he has a Pontiac Pursuit.........it says he is from Canada, did they only make those up there? It looks like a rebadged Cobalt, and I know Pontiac was going to release a version soon but I thought it was called the G5..... Im confused.

I believe it should be available in the US this fall as the G5.. Pontiac needs something like that since they killed off the sunfire. A supercharged version like the Cobalt SS would be nice.

I didn't know such a thing existed. I don't know why GM would do another one. I mean the Cobalt and the Saturn ION is not selling very well. I think I read somewhere that the projected sale didn't meet their expectation.

It's out in Mexico too, as a G4 GT.

Yeah, they're actually called the g5 Pursuit up here, so I wouldn't doubt seeing them release as the g5 Pursuit down in the states.

Regardless, they're small and gay looking (not to be obtuse).

Does anyone else see that there is no point in selling the same car under 2 or 3 different names?

Well rebadging has been going on forever, and I think it is interesting to see how the different car companies market the same car differently.

The companies can use rebadging to an advantage if they plan on splitting the production numbers up the middle. If they had hopes of selling 20,000 Cobalts, then they should not figure they will turn around and sell 20,000 G5's. If you split it up the middle, you'll grab the attention of some of the market who would never buy the Cobalt and vice versa without screwing yourself with overstock. To be honest with you's, if the Firebird was never offered, I never would have bought an F body.

Really? Maybe its just me then, i always thought that pontiac and chevrolet were pretty much the same thing, only with different grilles.

Although the firebird and camaro have always had destinctly different styling, well i mean you can tell they're the essentially the same, but its different enough to prefer one over the other. But that pursuit looked exactly like a cobolt... just with the pontiac grill.

Do they offfer the Cobalt in Canada?, because if they dont, that may answer why they didnt change it much.......
