    MY STORY......
I've owned my 94 Bird for 5 years (bought it from the original owner who stored in each winter up here in salt country (Michigan). She sold it because she couldn't fit a car seat in the back for her grand-daughter!!!). Made her an offer...she seemed a bit angry as it wasn't near what she was asking (we were $1500 apart)...but three days later she called and said to come and get it...It's been my summertime driver ever since...
Would like to hear your story...how did you acquire your car?

I bought mine near the end of summer 2004. I had been working for over a year saving every penny for a Mustang GT...then I found out what insurance would cost. Shortly after that, I saw my Camaro for sale and fell in love with it. Bought it the same day.

i like this thread already, i had a dirtbike for about 2 years. then scum bags decided to steal it. lucky for me i had insurence, that money plus me saving every penny i had for over a year equals me buying my car. at 14 i bought it used. and wrecked, i paid every penny for it, towing costs, title and tag, tax ect. it's changed alot sence then, and even though i still cant drive, the car looks great.

I got my permit at the age of 14 and started looking for cars. My friend had gotten an 1988 Firebird formula and I thought that was a fun car, so I started looking at F-Bodies. Looked at about 2 camaros and 2 birds (both 3rd gen). Then in the fall of 2003 I found my current car for sale. The color just grabbed my attention. I didn't think it was possible for me to get it though until my mom asked if I liked it. About a week later it was mine.

                Re: What's your story???

I've loved Firebirds and Camaros ever since I was a kid. Smokey & the Bandit was released when I was in junior high school - that, more than anything else made me a huge Firebird/ Trans Am fan.

When I graduated from college with my master's degree, I traded in my worn-out 81 Mustang

for a new 1987 Firebird (the Babe Magnet)

After many years, our first son arrived. My wife and I eventually decided the Babe Magnet did not fit our needs at the time, so we sold it a year or so later.

In early 2000, a person ran a red light and wrecked the car we were driving in. I had gone several years without a Firebird and was already hearing the discussions that this was the last of the Birds. The 200HP V6 was a great deal and made more power than the V8s did from just a few years earlier.

I ended up driving home a new pewter T-top Firebird from a dealership in Delray Beach one night in Jan, 2000. I having been loving the experience ever since then.

Well, she wasn't very agile:) I didn't argue with her as the Bird was a cream-puff and I really wanted it:drool:

                    Re: What's your story???

In the summer of 2001, my mother had bought a Jeep Cherokee off a used car lot in our town. I had driven by to look at the Jeep when she was still contemplating the purchase. I saw a red Camaro on the lot, and it slightly piqued my interest. I say "slightly" because I was still driving my first car, a '74 Chevelle. I'd been driving that car since '86, and really figured I'd drive it 'til the body fell off at a stoplight.

After a particular rainstorm that very week, I realized that very scenario wasn't too far off. Rain was pouring in all around the windshield. I had to admit that I just couldn't fend off the body rot that it had been fighting since I owned it. That red Camaro kept drifting into my mind as a neat alternative, but I still thought it was too much money and out of my league. Then, I thought, "why not just ask them about the car at the dealership?" So, I went in and casually inquired about it. I came to find out the price wasn't really all that bad for a 5 year old car. If I pulled my funds together, I could pay for half and secure a loan for the other half.

I got more and more intrigued with the idea of owning a car new enough to have never seen the 70s or 80s. I took it for a test-drive while my girlfriend stewed at the lot. The combination of the car's performance, looks, and it's ability to get under my girlfriend's skin made me take the leap.

Within one year, I had paid off the loan and became sole owner of a nice Camaro. It had 101,000 miles on it when I picked it up. I've put on 65,000 miles more since then. It's been my daily driver since purchase. My old Chevelle got put out to pasture. I sold it to a guy for parts with the agreement that I retain the title for nostalgia.

5 years later, I have one fantastic car that looks great parked at a curb. And an ex-girlfriend that I dropped at one.

                      Re: What's your story???

in 2003, was a few months after turning 16, was driving my moms neon when she wasn't. we had looked at some cars but it was always either the car was a piece, or it was too expensive. I was looking at getting a stripped new 03' civic because it would be cheap and last forever. after looking at some cars that day, which just so happened to be camaros and trans ams, which at the time, i really didn't know much of anything about them, they just looked cool. I came back into town and there it was. sitting in the street light all by itself at a local independent used dealer. didn't know it had a v6, didn't know the difference or even that they came in v6s, but it was dirt cheap for the time compared to what i was looking at that day and my mind was made up. i sat in it every night after they closed for like 2 weeks until we came up with the loan. i got it 2.5K under blue book because of they crappy clear it had on it that was coming off. now, i have just had it repainted and am grateful as ever for what i have.

I had a Jeep Wrangler as my daily driver that was getting up there in age. The bumpiness was wearing me down as well, so I decided to get something to drive during the summer. I loved my Jeep for the winter.

I browsed cars.com and autotrader for weeks looking for Beretta 5-speed in good shape but could find nothing. While looking, I came across a pic of my FB on autotrader. I ran upstairs and yelled to my wife "I found MY car." Drove 2.5 hours to Jersey to buy her that weekend.

I bought a '89 S-10 Blazer from my dad's uncle for my first car. Since we were family, he let me have it for $1. It was in bad condition, but my dad and I thought we could fix it up. So, we worked on it and worked on it and got it looking pretty nice (and ricey :P ), but we couldn't keep the rust from coming back. As soon as summer hit, I started working on the truck to sell it. Was on the computer one day looking at autotrader.com for some other Blazer (that's what my mom wanted me to have), when I noticed I had an e-mail form her work. Opened it up and there was a link for a Camaro. Clicked it, and went and looked at it the next weekend. Went up with no intent on buying, just looking, but when we got back from the test drive, they said they had our bank on the phone and wondered if we wanted it or not:)

I had an 88 Bonneville that was getting up there in mileage. I needed a more reliable car. I had always loved Firebirds and Camaro's. Just so happened that a family friend (my old boss at that) had a 98 Firebird she wanted to get rid of. I took a look at it and got a loan that week and snagged it. Never driven a stick before at the time- so a 20 minute ride home almost took an hour. Good times! Gotta love city driving with a car you have NO CLUE how to drive :) haha
