i dont think so. marines are awsome, my cousin was a 2lt in the corpes. but i'm making 3X the money right now than i will ever make in the corpes, and how many retired marines do you see? not saying that there isnt any, but i'm more likely to spend 4-6 years in the marines and get out. and i'm also more likely to retire from the army. but you cant even say that the army isnt hardcore though i mean seriously.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wurt2rqmUr0

there's more to military life than just the $$$$, although there is the free* healthy care, they move you, hop a ride even stateside for dependents,......

its supposively been getting softer and softer. however everyone I know says all the same pranks and what not are still pulled. So I think its just an image to the public

oh i know that millitary is more than money. its all about tradition and love of country. but if the army ever goes to riding stationary bikes for phisical training like the air force supposidly does then i will cry. the Drill sergeants at ft. benning were the most hardcore mofos i've ever seen. i dont think the big infantry bases will turn. lol

nothing wrong with them getting soft. I'm glad the post office isnt hard on employees anymore, causing them to go "Postal".

I would join the AF, but I dont wanna be moved to maine or hawaii or something. I wanna stay right here.

my point is, if you get a cell fone and/or a phone call everyday and you find out maybe that the girl you love is cheating on you and the guy she is now with is telling you about it over the fone, how well would you be able to concentrate on your training. not only knowing that but you'll also be 100s of miles from home and you wont be able to do anything about any of it. cause once you're there you wont be leaving untill your training is complete. all of you millitary guys will know exactly what im talking about. my ex broke up with me while i was in basic, she wrote me a letter telling me how many guys she had been WITH at a party one night. if you know what i mean. and thats all i thought about for days. basic is supposed to take everything away from you so that you know how much everything actually means to you. you have to earn everything back(including showers) so how much pride can you actually have in knowing that you got through basic training but you didnt actually earn anything? this was my point of this whole thread. nothing against the air force by the way.

Personally, I think it's all hype. I'm pretty sure boot camp isn't as they just said it was.... going through it and doing it, and what they say they put you through are two different things. So they don't yell at you? Big deal?

Hell, even in S.E.A.L. training, they instructors don't yell at you unless you've done something wrong. And you're allowed to go off-base everynight with your family. I'm sure you can make it seem like it's a walk in the park on paper, but you'll only know what they go through if you do it yourself.
