  • Passed out yesterday at the gym!

I went to the gym w/ a couple of my buddies yesterday, and passed out!

    Here’s the story:

We first went to McDonalds and I had 3 Big Macs, a large fry, and a medium drink. Immediately after eating we went to workout, and the first thing we did was bench press; I didn’t show off or anything, but I did push myself a little too hard. Then they wanted to do leg workouts, and I said no because I started to get a REALLY bad headache, then as they were doing leg presses I said “lets go now, because I feel like I’m going to throw up”, so they said go throw up then, thinking I was joking, then I started to get mad and said I really don’t feel good lets go! They said alright, and on our way out I couldn’t see anything, and started to pass out but I fought it, and sat down at a table. They said oh s*** man are you alright, and I said no I almost passed out. So I got up and said lets go to the car, and on our way down the stairs I passed out and hit the wall, then got back up, and passed out again and hit my head against the glass door really hard. I woke up on the ground, and they pulled me up, helped me to the car, and took me home. I went right to sleep when I got home, and just woke up a couple hours ago.
I’ve never even been close to passing out before. This was the first time. Maybe it’s because I didn’t get much sleep the night before, and pushed myself a little too hard on the bench press. I feel perfectly fine right now, just a little sore from working out.

    Why did this happen?

Maybe I am wrong, but if you are eating THREE Big Mac's before you are working out, or even while you work out at all, that can't be good. I haven't worked out in years, but I do know that eating stuff like that isn't good if you are trying to push yourself to your limits. And passing out like that, probably would have been a good idea to sit down for at least 20 minutes or so if you were feeling light-headed. If you are going to work out, you need to accomodate the lifting and such with the proper nutrition. Just my opinion.

I’ve been working out for over 2 years now, and eat all the right foods, like chicken, fish, protein shakes/bars, everything you can think of that is healthy. I also eat a lot of red meat too because I’m bulking up, but I eat the lean ground beef, this is the first time in a while that I ate at McDonalds. The only reason I ate there is because they wanted too, and I wasn’t going to do a full workout.

We mostly went to the gym to let my other friend get a membership, and I decided to do some bench press just for fun.
I did push myself a LITTLE bit, but I’ve worked out WAY harder before.

I’m not eating at McDonalds anymore! LOL

not getting enough sleep is definately bad.
If you are bulking up there is ALOT more to bulking than just eating red meat and protein. You need calories and carbs.

dude not good. you should have sat down for a while. if it happens again you need to go get a cat scan to make sure that everything is ok in your brain. to make sure your not starting to build a brain aneurism.

Low sugar level. That's your answer. 3 macs (white bread; not wheat bread + grease and fat), fries (transfat, no nutrients) and drink doesn't constitute energy for working out.

You didn't get enough sugar in your brain and in your muscles. You didn't have soda did you? Because that's even worst. Instead of giving you energy it will rob you of it.

Next time you go to the gym eat some fruits a couple of minutes before the workout. Have a balance meal with whole grain, baked chicken or fish, and drink 10 glasses of water a day. Your next workout will be better.

may have been the fried food. if you haven't eaten fried foods in a while, going to a place like McDonald's could really upset your stomach and make you sick.

Or how about this: See a doctor. If you are truely concerned about this i don't understand why you would ask a car message board rather than a trained physician...

I don't it's a big thing. He just pass out because of the lack of sugar in his blood and/or electrolites imbalance.

I remember when I was in High School playing hoops with my brother and his friends. One of his friends passed out. Just completely collapse right there. Got us all worried. He would wake up and then pass out again.

We gave him some water and then took him home. It turns out all he had for lunch was a bag of chips and coke.
