... i used to think that i was good at identifing cars. But i've seen two of the same car, that i've never seen before, in as many days. They were both loud, quick, and had ****ty paint jobs. Small boxy thing, like a miniture lada (props to anyone who knows what that is), with two small rectangular taillights.
Anyone know what i'm talking about?

Since they were seen in CA, it is possible. Very fast back in the late 70's in SCCA racing. Paul Newman drove one for Bob Sharp Racing in Connecticut - 78-79. Great little car.
My guess is some kind of Nissan. My old neighbor has a Nissan that looked just like that Datsun you posted a picture of. Just the headlights were different.
