  • Whats up with all these stores carrying ****ty FRAM oil filters?

I went to meijers last night to get an oil filter for my car so I can do an oil change today. And guess what, they carry FRAM oil filters instead of Purolator now.
Autozone, Meijers, K-mart. They all seem to only carry crappy FRAM oil filters now. Where can I buy a quality oil filter for cheap these days?? (I know they sell mobil 1 filter and all that at autozone but its a rip off). Sorry I just had to rant.

Also, for people who thinks FRAM oil filter isnt bad, do a search on google for 'Fram oil Filter Quality'. Or check out here.

Nothing against Purolator, but I have had nothing but problems with those things. Always had them leak around the rubber gasket after a thousand miles or so. Im sure the filter element itself is great, but I don't know about the rubber, doesn't seem real tough. I have never taken off a Purolator filter and it not have oil that was leaking from the mating surface of the filter and filter bracket.

Ive been using NAPA filters for a while now, I like them. They seem to keep the oil real clean, and after 3k miles, the oil still comes out pretty clean.

unless autozone carries different parts in different areas of the country, they do not carry purolator. I've worked for them part time for over two years and never seen one on the shelves. They carry the fram tough gaurd and bosch for mid priced filters, and k&n and mobil for the high end filters. Advanced carries purolator, napa carries wix (napa gold). I prefer wix.
