Re: need ideas for a presentation
Microsoft needs to look more into networked applications. Traditionally, they have made all of their money on the desktop, but with network bandwidth growing and higher speeds, applications no longer need be HD resident.
Think about games. they used to be single player, then multi, and now networked. I know MSFT has looked into virtual meeting rooms and remote desktops. But that's still thinking inside the box. What applications can now exist using massive networking capabilities that was never possible before? That is the future of computing and that is where MSFT should go.

I'm not too computer savvy, but maybe something like a dual-mode computer where you have certain programs that are not accessible through internet applications. Financial information and other personal items could be protected from hacking and viruses due to there being no link between the two modes of operation. You could also store all back-up and restore data there to be uploaded (via a CD or DVD) to the damaged hard-drive that accesses the internet. Or, something you can switch to make them link up when needed, and divide into two separate drive entities when protection is a must.
This might be done already, or it might be impossible. I don't know. Just a random idea.1996 Camaro. \"RedKnight\" on MOFBA.org.

With that said, several companies and universities are looking at different ways of securing processes, but so far, the processing costs are too high or the hardware costs are too high.
