  • Being covered in hot melted tire... sucks...

Well, just figured I'd share this with everyone. Well, where I work, I drive a motor. It's like a big forklift that you stand in. Well, I had been working for about an hour, and all of a sudden the thing comes to a crawl. So I figure, hey something must be stuck in one of the rigger wheels. So i try to go back and forth, a little, and it did not help. So I figure, well, I must of got some pallet wood stuck in the middle of the two rigger wheels. So, I get off the motor, and right as I get right above the wheels, and get ready to bend down. One of the wheels explodes..... :( Covering me in hot boiling tire... Needless to say, this is the most pain I can ever think of having in a split second. I dropped to my knees in pain as this stuff melted into my skin... :( So, next thing I know I hear people asking me if I was ok, and hearing people saying, call 911. So, they sent me to the hospital, and I now have 1st and 2nd degree burns on my two arms, right hand, and one 2nd degree burn on my face. They said I was lucky that I didn't bend down right over it, where it would of blew up in my face. I was also wearing my regular glasses that did stop the tire from reaching my eyes. The doctor also told me, that it was a good thing that I have hair on my arms, because the hair stopped a lot of the tire from reaching the skin, and causing even more intense burns...

So, I guess the point of me telling you this... is... Boiling hot tire, is bad for your skin.... and it hurts really bad....

Ohh, and once you get the cooled tire off your skin, you have all kinds of blisters that are draining yellow stuff.... and they hurt... I think that's everything..

:( This has been one bad July the 3rd.... :(

Hey, thanks everyone. Yeah, I don't see me touching any fireworks.. :( I can't even go outside where it is hot, because it makes the blisters start burning bad. :( I have no clue what happened to the tire. Work called and said they took the number off the tire and are having it looked at, to see what happened. I just hope I don't scare from the burns, especially the one on my face. :(

Sue your work, sue the tire company and sue the forklift company.
                  Thats all I gotta say.

Sue them for the medical bills, and get extra for "pain and suffering." Heal up, take lots of pain meds, make sure to save some. :)

As for the med bills, the company is taking care of all of them. But, if it leaves scars, especially the one on my face, I'm thinking about a law suit against the people that make the tire. I may talk to a lawyer anyways. Because I cannot explain the amount of pain it caused when it happened, and until I got the tire pulled from my skin and put the cream the doctor gave me on it, plus the pain meds helped. I guess I will just have to wait and see how things goes and see if I scar bad or not.

I hope you recover quickly and the pain subsides even faster. It'll also be great if you suffered no scarring from the ordeal. If there's any long-term issues, I'd be sure to check into legal recourse. For your benefit, and that of others this might affect in the future. Attention may be needed drawn to either the tire or some work scenario that created the unseen failure.

All that aside, I just hope you the best on your recovery.

If it does scar, stay out of the sun for like a year. UV rays will discolor the scar making it more noticable.

I am not a lawyer, but I think you would only have a lawsuit if negligence can be found.

Well, I went to my doctor today for a checkup on the burns. He said that they are healing great, and there is no sign of infection. He did say that they may scar, especially the one on the face. He said after the blisters go away, to come back and he would give me something that will help it from scaring. I still haven't heard anything about how the tire exploded. I'm going back to work tomorrow. So, maybe I will hear more then. Thanks everyone for the comments. :)
