  • Eclipse quarter mile times?

So anyway one of my brothers friends got an 97 Eclipse GS-T and then a friend of mine followed in suit and got a 95 Eclipse GS-T. We got to talking about cars and such and he claimed that stock they run high 13s which I sorta found hard to believe with 205hp at the crank, even in a car thats at about 2700lbs. Does anyone have some accurate times on these cars? And don't refer me to that large 0-60mph quarter mile time website a lot of those times are bull.

They do about 14.3-14.5 ish quarter mile. Not too sure on 0-60.

They are not that well built from what I am told by people who own them. The trannies suck really bad and it will usually blow out cylinder 4. I know a guy who put a connecting rod right through the cylinder wall with only 75k on a stock GS-T.

your friend is full of it, it'd be a miracle for a stock gs-t to even break 14s it's a 15 sec car. Take him down to the track and show him how slow his car really is, bring him back to reality.

Oh trust me, NOT a freind of mine! Guy was a real DB, but he may have been talking about a modded one. I did a little research and you are right, they are good for about 15.3 in the 1/4!!!!! I may have been confused on a stock vs modded, thats my bad for not listening when ricers are talking. :D

I almost bought a 99' GS-T Spyder, so I immediately did my mod research. It is EXTREMELY cheap to make these things fast. They also have some free tricks, so I'd be careful and make sure they're stock.

In my vid I have an Eclipse GSX that I have raced...... he beat me in the quarter by a door. He has Intake, and Exahust. My Camaro has Exahust, Lid, Ram Air. I was suprised.

                    Re: Eclipse quarter mile times?

Maybe i'll keep my V6 then, I'm still listing it though on craigslist albeit for more than what I payed for it. I sorta want to get another 3rd gen with a 305 and a 5-speed and with the ton of money i'll have left over swap in a 327, 350, 383 or whatever and absolutely destroy their eclipses =). In a race right now though I'de probably beat my friend that just got his cause it's stock and i'm a lot better at stick. My brothers friend though has a lot more experience then I do and his is slightly modded so no cigar there.

They do mid to low 15s stock. The GSX (AWD) version gets better launches but doesn't do as well top end, but it can achieve about the same times.

                      just saw later posts.

They run high 14s low 15s with minor mods.

One of my first kills in my v6, I was racing at the track jumped out ahead, then heard his BOV going off on the shifts behind me(I had stock exhaust) and I was out ahead and on the shifts I pulled a little bit.

but with some money they are easier to mod then our cars. But not so sure if they are as reliable.

They tend to break a lot more than our cars i think...my buddy has a 98 gsx...hes built his tranny up 16g turbo, fmic, dsm link, cams, suspension, stage 5 clutch igniton and basically every other mod u can think of...he runs low 11's...stock those cars r high 14's with a good driver
