they can be fast cars with a little work.. however, they are in no way reliable. their beefed up transmission has dual syncros on 1st and 2nd gear, which tend to chew up when people dont engage both syncros for each shift (its kinda hard actaully.. throws you off the first few times you do it).. the engine in general really just doesnt seem fit to handle a turbo for street use. i dont know anyone who had one that lasted 70k miles without replacing the turbo, the motor, or both.. my one buddy used to work in an all DSM shop near our college. he had one that put out 450 all wheel hp and ran 12's.. fast car but he had it tore apart at least once a month.
