                              214,001 on the '96 Camaro
                              269,488 on the '91 FireBird
                              146,277 on the '83 T/A ( project still in the works )

As long as we're talking about high mileage on our beloved cars, I just wanted to inform our budget minded shadetree mechanics out there that this may be the time to re-evaluate your property tax imposed on your vehicle. Here in CT, we have very high taxes as with other neighboring states and you may be missing out on an opportunity to lower your vehicle property tax that you owe. The way to do it is to acquire an 'Application To The Board Of Assessment Appeals' available at your town hall where you pay taxes and bring your vehicle or vehicles onsite to a hearing where they look at the odometer and condition of the car in question.

For example, I learned that my town municipality tax assessment board valued my 1991 Firebird as BRAND NEW or MINT under the NADA Book. This was totally wrong in my opinion and decided to fight this tax ignorance to lower what I should be really paying. It's a beater and gets me around but the point is don't let a branch of goverment rip you off because most of the time they will not tell you how to save money on taxes.
I'm looking at a hearing in September to avoid paying $91 on the Firebird and $151 on the Camaro. A re-evaluation should lower them down significantly I hope, we will see.

Certain states differ on property taxes and mill rates but it's your tax money. I like to help people save money and put it towards your bank account or into your F-Body. I also know certain states allow a federal or state tax deduction for vehicle taxes paid but taxes simply do not make your life easier if you don't know who's in your pocket.
