    Re: Israel don't play

Its called isolationism, we practiced it in the middle of the 19th century, until WWI.
think theres a reason for that?

we take sides in world affairs b/c the outcome will effect us one way or another. the world isnt like it was in the middle of the 19th century, its all about world markets and world trade, you cant keep to yourselfs and expect your intrests to be looked out for

WWIII=Senate/House/Pres. making a draft I bet. If that happens...F*ck it I'm losing a leg. I will not die for those pigs in the middle east. I want to die defending my country. Not becasue Akmed Muhammed Muhammed Ali Muhammed wants his little piece of land, and we happen to be on their side.

"the middle east is going to turn into an even bigger hell hole than it already is"

        Quite possibly.

        "this whole subject is scary"

        For sure.

And that is the key problem. Our economy is totally dependent on imported oil. We've got to do whatever it takes to fix that. It won't be easy, it will be expensive, it will take a lot of time. But we've gotta do it. We have no good option.

"Why must the US take sides in all this crap?"

Because we're dependent on imported oil.

"We don't need the global economy"

Unfortunately we absolutely do. Maybe because of a lot of stuff, but certainly because of oil.

        "Bomb them all"

Yeah. Then watch oil go over $100/barrel, maybe over $150, and our economy collapses.

Did you know that, in the 1980s we supported Saddam, even gave him military aid? Because we thought he'd be a force for stability, so we could get oil.

What interests? What interests OUTSIDE of the geographical US do we absolutely need? What reason do we have to participate in the "global economy" other than that of pure greed? I can't think of one thing that we absolutely CANNOT provide for ourselves. Not one thing comes to mind when I think of a dependency needed by this country. But there is one, and ONLY ONE thing that comes to mind when I think about what this country (or actually the A**holes running it) want, and that is money. Some think it is about oil, freeing the oppressed, or showing the world American pride. For those of you who think ANYTHING this country does is for any reason other than money, then you are seriously blinded and clueless. We have started wars because of our "interests" in the middle east. What is that interest you say? OIL. But oil is not the reason why we are sending US soldiers to Iraq, we are sending them to protect oil that we and the rest of the world will use to the last drop, then once all the oil is gone from the middle east and other locations around the world, the US oil reserves will be uncapped, and the US will be able to charge whatever they want per barrel, making a lot more money for already wealthy and powerful people. The US is trying to corner the market in the crude oil industry. But it isn't ALL of the US that will profit from cornering this market, ONLY the wealthy. What the wealthy will do is sell the idea of American pride to the poor and desperate of this country, getting them to fight for an idea that was sold out long ago so that THEIR interests will be looked out for from a safe distance. If American pride was so important to everyone in this country, then why aren't their wealthy people in the military? Why hasn't these rich people ENLISTED into the Army, or Navy, or any other branch of the military? You wanna know why, cause THEY DON'T HAVE TO. They have no reason to honestly contribute to this country because they can get us to do it for them. The rich and wealthy can sit back, drink their tea in the Hamptons, buy and sell our lives with little regret from a safe distance from anything harmful to themselves.

This country sold out the idea of freedom and independence a long time ago. We have intricately involved ourselves with the rest of the world to a point now that we can't break free from it, because we don't want to know how much of other countries money is to be lost. Corporations outsource jobs because it is cheaper than supporting the US economy and keeping jobs here. People are getting laid off, losing jobs, and are left with little choices in their lives because of our involvement with the rest of the world. Our freedoms are being lost everyday to the almighty dollar. People join the military not for pride of country, but for the $20,000 signing bonus that is to be had. Think I am wrong, ASK AROUND!!! We as an American people have been so beaten down and broken that we not just sit back and accept it, but make excuses for why we as a people are being screwed over when we lose our jobs to outsourcing, or lose our sons and daughters to a war for money. If there was any real American pride left, the rich and wealthy of this country to do its part to contribute in a beneficial way, instead of thinking monetarily. They would keep jobs here, pay people what they need to live a good life. But as long as American greed runs rampant across the globe, men and women will lose their lives, families will lose their homes, fathers and mothers will lose their jobs, and sons and daughters will go hungry every night. True American pride will be nothing more than a memory, as the rich get richer, and the poor get more poor and desperate. Crime will be at an all time high, and terrorist will continue to pursue way of beating us down to dust. But don't worry, because all of those things are worth the loss and risk, because we can compete in a global economy.:(

                  Re: Israel don't play

nothings wrong with it, it'd be nice to be totally independent like mogob's said, but theres no way. that'll never happen, i do agree i feel a big part of why we're over in the middle east is oil, but not the whole reason.

i think it was mogob's that said something along the lines of we should just mind our own buisness and not take sides over everything, but if we just sat back and didnt get involved other country's could/would get stronger and then try to invade us ect.so i guess we have to show them who's boss as soon as its nessacery.( personally, im a very pro-peace person. i hate the fact that we go to war so much and have so many solider's dieing, but its not going change, its going to stay like this for a very long time.)

Serioiusly, now that I think about it, it's nothing to fret. What's going to happen is going to happen, we are nobodies, we can't stop it all we can do is complain and speculate. At first I get really heated thinking about all of it and really the only thing I can conclude sh*t happens. I'll go with flow until I'm radioactive dust. BTW God Bless our Troops, bravest in the world.

What part are you doing to help solve it rather than tap all irate on a keyboard??? Give it up, wtf.

Let the American Way run its course I say! This is our last chance to flex our muscles as the only highly developed superpower in the world. I still don't mind the high gas prices so lets burn it and have fun while we still have the chance in this chaotic world. Just remember that we wont be alive to see America become a lower class superpower in this day and age, we will never allow it!

Next thing you know China and India with their 2 billion people on the other side will rethink how close their oil rich friends with the gasoline spigot are waving at them to use our precious resources we take for granted. Hell no to that!

Being the world largest superpower has its responsibilities, responsibilities that we can no longer afford to accomodate. Basically, we are risking the lives of many Americans just so we can call ourselves "Worlds Largest Power". Hell, while we're at it, why don't we give out coffee mugs with the title "Worlds Largest Power" on the side to every single parent, child, wife, and husband who has lost a loved one to a war. Hallmark can have the coffee mugs made in Taiwan for .05 cents, printed with the logo in China for .03 cents, and sold to the US government for $5 a pop. Hallmark makes a TON of money, and people not only get a flag for their sacrifices to war, they also get a nifty coffee mug for those sleepless nights without their loved ones. Sounds like a fair trade to me......

And the only reason why you think that way is because you have given up, just like 99.999% of people in this country. Thats why it is fine for you to get raped by major corporations, and political representatives in our government. As long as attitudes like this are allowed to thrive, we will NEVER get better. We will continue to slide downhill till we are all on welfare, jobless, homeless, and without any healthcare. But what is surprising about this post is that you not only accept the fact you don't care, you flaunt it. Pretty sickening.

As for isolationism, no, this can't be done overnight. That would seriously cripple us in more ways than just economically. We would be pretty screwed if it was an abrupt thing. But in a span of, lets say, 20 years, that is extremely possible. We start pulling ourselves out of the worlds limelight slowly, to a point that no one notices. It can be done in a 20 year span.
