What's the dumbest thing you have ever done, car related?

I'll start...

I had my car for over a year, unlocking it manually all the time, which pissed me off, till I finally bought an alarm...and of course never got around to installing it. Called a GM dealership one day to find out if I had Y87 by reading off my VIN and some other numbers to them, and ended up discovering I had keyless all along, prev. owner did not give me the remote...AHHH!

Second best story is probably when I changed oil and didnt realize that the oil filter I took off left its gasket behind...... Rolled it off the ramps and it shot oil EVERYWHERE, Synthetic of course too! Thru the belt off as well, my GF was laughing so hard, my parents, however, were not very amused with the oil trail on their driveway, luckily I shut the car off immeaditely and prevented what coulda been a nasty mishap.

there's a lot more but those two stand out in my head.

I did that exact same thing on my other 97. :twak:

After installing my dash gauges I tried to start the car and nothing happened. I checked and rechecked all my connections behind the dash, all the fuses and was getting extremely pi$$ed off until I realized I had disconnected the battery before I started and hadnt reconnected it yet...

doing a u-turn at a busy intersection one saturday night long ago, there were a lot of imports around so i gunned it, did a couple donuts and stopped facing the ricers coming towards me who were also doing a u-turn. you should have seen the O'**** look on this dudes faces who was infront of me.

two months after ig ot my car i back into a guide wire and it ren doen the side of my car then instead of getting out and pulling it away i just drove off and it ripped my gas dooe of and my quater pannel look like someone cheese grated it. that sucked

It was raining..I had a friend in the car i said one pretty cool thing bout rain i can spin tires in every gear (i was young and stupid at the time). spun first gear spun 2nd gear spin 3rd gear tires and THE CAR. i go through an intersection spinning go into the grass on the side of the road....pretty dumb

First weekend I had my car, which was in feb. I decided to gun it going thru a turn, hit black ice and did a complete 360 in a really busy intersection. Purty dumb.

I also forgot when me and my friend were doing my heads and cam he dropped two drill bits in my motor, only one was recovered....

gunned it around a left turn in the rain. my driverside mirror did a 270 about 6 inches the whole way around the stop sign.

dumbest? my old 3.4. i was 17 and stupid. first week i had it i was going down my street up ahead was a stop sign. for some reason i thought i could make a hard right at 45mph at said stop sign. went across 3 lanes on the road(no one was on the road thank god) did a 180 hit the brakes and came to a stop facing the wrong way in the lane i would have been in anyways had i driven like a responsible person. i turned the car around real quick and went home. that was the last time i ever drove an fbody like a ****ing idiot.

wearing sandals I went into a turn extremely way to fast. Of course sandals got caught on the pedals. Rear end slided into the turn, i let off gas. Then the front in slid into the turn and smacked the concrete wall.

in the 94 camaro... I was on a 520 (known as bloody 520 around here by some) Its a 2 lane highway with a yellow line in the middle, it will split from 2 lanes to 4 lanes for a passing lane then goes back down to 2 lanes again.

I was stuck behind an s-10 going 35mph, for about 2-3 miles speed limit is 55, most people do 85, their are no exits or anything on the sides road is in the middle of nowhere. So we get up to the passing lane, I go to pass the guy going 35mph, then a guy started to pass the slow guy, but this guy was still only going ~40 mph. Everyone is way to slow, so I decided floor it got up to about 90-100 and decided to pass cross the double yellow and pass the cars, I get over, and to my luck ther was a car on the other side going like 100 passing another slow car, so we are both going like 100 mph towards each other.

I cannot go back over to my side of the road since the 2 cars are their, so then I go left, so I am now on the far left lane, on the wrong side of the road going 100 mph, car passes me on my right going the opposite way, then another car goes by, then a big *** truck is on a head on collision with me, so but then I had a clear way to run over so I swerve over and get back on my side of the road.

In my 92 Jimmy, there was a railroad crossing that I used to hop the tracks alot in my 85 camaro, at like 75mph. So I say, truck should do it better, so I hit the tracks going like 90ish, hit it, hard, I float up in my seat and hit my head and shoulder on the roof of the roof of the truck, land, all was good, then the truck was bouncing up, but only on one side, I swore I was going to flip right then and their, then the rear slid out, I was facing a house, I swerved, overcorrected, swerved to the wrong side of the road, swerved over corrected, swerving waay back over to my side of the road, then start to get the car under control.
