I just saw a commercial for an item called "autocool" and it seemed it could be very useful for my camaro....I park my car in the sun most of the time and when i come back to my car (even with tint) it seems like a HOT pizza oven...so, i want to know if anyone here used this "autocool" and how good it is making the car cool down? .....thanks
Some how I don't htink that would work well with an f-body. For one the way the window is it would almost definitely leak. Secondly I doubt its good for the already weak window motors.
It's gotta work! didn't you see how happy the woman was when she got back in the car after the autocool was installed?? What more proof do you need?
You do make a good point...
The down side is I will no longer be able to cook my breakfast on the dash. It's a real treat when you are running late and can't grab something to eat.
JC Whitney has been selling these for years, I remember when I first started getting the catalog I noticed those, thought it might be a good idea for my 66 Pickup with no AC and most of the interior was steel, that was proably back in 94.

First off, yeah, it would make a vacuum, second, it's the things that the sun heats up, that heats up the car.
If the sun hits the seats, the dash, the center console, the seatbelts..... etc.... those themselves, are still going to be very hot because of direct sun contact, and then you have that p.o.s. sucking air out slowly making a vacuum...
So you get in, and it is hot as hell, hard to breath, and you lost $15...
My advice... never EVER get anything from an infomercial... they are all scams in some way..
Yeah, it's overpriced prob for what you get, but it will work.
But seriously, how well do you think your car is sealed up that you could pull a vacuum in a car interior? Not even counting the weak blower this thing has.

has anyone ever used one before??? i know its prolly bs but i was thinking of getting one because it's already hit 113 here in parts of vegas this summer and it is complete hell for the first 5 miles driving home i have to put a sock around the gear shift knob or it burns the hell out of my hand and yes i do have a window shade althoughi t is a cheesy cardboard one, i had a good foil type one but one 110+ day it must of made the window so hot that my 3" crack became a spider web of cracks going all the way across the windsheild
you know what?? if no one has used one before, i gonna be this sites auto-cool guinea pig, i'll wait 2 days and then if no one has used one , im gonna buy one and then i'll post up the results. if it works good in vegas than it should work good in most places. a girl at work can get me one for 10.00 with shipping. i must say though that that ad above is really gay, even if it does work it will just just cool it off a little, just take the edge off, i swear that lady in the ad looked like she was ready to grab a jacket when she got in her car...lol
Nice... so it slowly makes your car a complete vaccuum so that you can never get the door open... physics FTL
:D
and you actually think that would happen... you ftl.
I think the product would help, but how much? Its 15 dollars your not taking a huge hit... seems like somewhat of a good idea, but how well does it work. give it a shot!
i'll wait 2 days and then if no one has used one , im gonna buy one and then i'll post up the results.
thumbs up man....don't wait, just get it and tell us the results ..... if it works then i'll buy one.... the reason i am curious is that today i was passsing through a vw/audi dealership, and all the cars has autocool in their window ....i was like wtf, that's a lot money......so post up the results ASAP..... thanks
