Where have I been?
I've been at my home in Billings, and spent many nights this summer camping in our "new" 1972 over-head pickup camper out in the mountains with my wife, my folks, my dog and my closest friends. As most of you know I'm hopelessly addicted to off-roading and the 4-wheel-drive community, and have spent most of the spring and summer either working on or wheeling my project trail rig which now has 1-ton axles and military H1 double-beadlock wheels, and I did a cab swap with a '74 crew cab and chopped he box down to 47" so it has the same wheelbase, drivetrain but 4 doors and 5 seats. It looks like an 80's Chevy Hummer. I still have a ton of work left to do before it's "finished", but when is a project vehicle (especially a 4x4) ever "finished"?
I still have the Z28... my wife talked me out of selling it again for the 3rd time now. This time she did it by buying me 4 Nitto 555 RII's for Christmas. I got a promotion in February and she got a new job making quite a bit more money, and we paid off her truck, so we can afford it, I just want to pack as much money away and pay off as much of the house as possible so we can sell it and buy some land outside of town. Additionally my business is busier than ever and that absorbs as much of my time as I can give to it.
The reason you haven't seen me here in the last ~6 months is that quite honestly I haven't wanted to come here. I've never spoken out about how I've felt, and I didn't do a big "Good-bye" thread because I felt both are unprofessional and unnecessary. I suppose it's time for an explanation....
I've disliked the way the site has been managed from the start...even back when I was a moderator long ago and an admin long long ago. The implementation of paid memberships was the final straw. I didn't piss & moan about it, I didn't raise a ruckus, I didn't purposely try to get myself banned, and I didn't make a stink like a number of members did. I just logged out quietly. This, in combination with the fact that there nothing here that is worth any amount of my money. I know I don't HAVE to "support".. hell, I've donated $ in the past back when it first got started, but the fact remains I don't own a V6 any more, and even when I did I was never into making it go faster. Since I don't agree with the decisions of the administration, since my interests weren't ever really here and have shifted even more so away from here, and since my schedule only allows for a small amount of message board time, I elected to not come to here any longer. I decided to to spend my limited forum time only on coloradok5.com, towrig.com and rv.net.
So, I suppose this will be last post on here. And since it's the typical "good-bye" post that I never felt the need to do, here it goes:
