Yeah the 3800 series II kicks ***. Most of my families cars have a 3800 in them. Barely have any problems with any of them except the intake manifold gasket. Almost all of them need that changed.Comment

oh i have. ive seen quite a few with blown head gaskets. lt1s cost more to keep in one piece than anything ive owned to date or probably will.Originally posted by rt1

i had a mustang, and said the same thing lol , bought a camaro.... and those 3.4s are better than the freakin 3.8, i put about 50k on my 3.4 , sold it at 170k and the only thing i did to it was change the alt...... drove it like it was an indy car all the time too....

Heh 3.4 is a sweet motor, just under built. GM never put any real thought into it. And actually at heart the 3.8 has a very serious design flaw to, check the oil pump design...
But over and beyond that, I just talked to a machine shop, I'm getting myself a copper head gasket set made.. Haha no more problems with blown gaskets. Also my '95 3.4 has just under 155k miles on it, and I beat the living piss out of it, and I have absolutely no problems.
