QFT... the only reason i'm giving all that stuff a bad rap is cuz after using it all reasonably heavily for 3 years, its a difficult habit to kick. yeah there are worse things to get hooked on, but its definately not exactly good for you (and in MI, packs of smokes are 5.50 thanks to our retarded governor who made teh price essentially double since she came to town). dip is cheaper at 2-3 a tin but still an annoying expense.

when you discuss it, dont be the bad guy. you gotta be on her side. otherwise you'll be giving her the choice you vs. cigs. i know firsthand how addicting the crap is. i smoked for 2 years, switched to chew a year ago, and i'm still battling the stuff. its pure evil. just try to help her to deal with it. if you try to put it as you vs. cigs, bad stuff will happen. its gotta be something she WANTS to do for herself. making her pick is just a bad situation waiting to get worse...

Just having one or two to be social is a slippery slope. In due time, she will likely be a full-timer again. Camaro Dom is right. She will only stop if SHE wants to. Talk to her about it. Tell her why it bothers you.

story time: started 11th grade, had my eye on a girl at school. Started talking to her in my english class, went to denny's for breakfast/lunch on a half day with her and we had to sit in the smoking section. Didnt know she was a smoker, if i did never would have went with her in the first place, before i dropped her off at home i told her i though it was the most disgusting(sp?) thing. I told her i was going to ask her if she wanted to go out again for dinner or something another time, but said that ill never date a smoker. She stopped smoking like 2 weeks later and we starting going out, 1 1/2 years later she picked up again, and i gave her the choice. I was single for about 2 months after that, IMHO best decision i ever made.

I dont care what people do on their own time, but them smoking around me hurts me. people drinking doent hurt me. People doing crack on their spare time doesnt hurt me. But smoking in public places or just getting a wiff of it is enough to piss me off.
I have almost 0 respect for people who smoke near others who dont, cuz if they had respect for people who didnt they wouldnt smoke near them.

I wish cigs were like $100 a pack, just so ud think more before killing me.

I actually AGREE with Camaro Dom. I honestly can't believe that some people think SMOKING is similar to smoking crack, shooting up meth, drunk driving, and getting robbed for crack money.

As for smoking in public places, fine. It seems that all the non-smokers have whined and cried till they got their way, and exaggerated the truth so much that you really can't smoke anywhere public anymore, which is BS. You don't like the smoke, leave. I was here first. Get the f*** out. Even when I do quit (and I do intent to), I wouldn't look down on a smoker like he is some deviant, like some of you are. Its something called TOLERANCE. If someone wants to talk about respect and not smoking around a non-smoker, then quit going to places that allow smoking inside. Simple solution.

Dude thats the most ignorant thing ive ever heard. You must have really bought into that anti-tobacco propoganda in elementary school. I'll admit I don't smoke very often and when other people do it doesn't bother me. Seriously catching a wiff of second hand smoke isn't anything to throw a fit over it really isn't gross at all. And I couldn't agree with Mogobs more, alcohol is much more damaging then smoking.
