I dont know, I wouldnt be so quick to call it a scam.

I would give them everything (maybe a business address) and no phone number.

          Re: Scam?

Ask them what their name and address is, so that you can see how much shipping will be. If it's on the up and up then they will give you real info. I've learned recently that you can find alot about people over the internet... alot.

            Re: Scam?

Yeah, I emailed them back and asked where they were from and said that I would meet them somewhere or they could come to the house if they are local. Otherwise, I would need a shipping address. (I wanted to see what their reply would be.) Of course there was no response to that.

              Re: Scam?

Asking about the "item" I have for sale was a dead giveaway that something was fishy. Most people say... "hey, what's the lowest you'll go on the tires" or... "how much is shipping to xxxxx"?

Scam or no scam, it sounds fishy.
Better safe than sorry, just don't deal with them.

The "item" and "current state of item" sounds like a scam. They obviously can't just come to the website and look for some reason.

Just take the check and wait for it to cash in.

Unfortunately I have a problem with Paypal and I've been buying a ton of stuff from ebay. I've paid most of them with checks and MO. SO far none of them have had any problems with me.

I am guessing more than $40......haha it's funny though how they think we'll fall for that....i think i have seen a website where this guy wrote how he really fu*ked this scammer in england....it was about a laptop..... i don't know if anyone had that link....that way i could show it to you (shirl) how he did it...it was awesome.....i HATE scammers ....

Maybe i should take this opportunity to alert any ebay members that last few weeks i have been receiving emails subject, " Your item has been listed on ebay...." or "Your ebay item has been sold" or even worse, "Your ebay username/password has been reset..." so, i open the email and see a link to ebay ..i click on the link ...as soon as you click on the link it takes you a site that has been made exactly like ebay .....there they want you to put your username and password...i was shocked how close the site was compare to real site but they couldn't fool me.. after all i have been member for 4 years now :) ...... so you put you username and password ..bam now they got your info in their database...F*ckin' Scammers.......just to figure out how u can tell it's a scam site, is that if you receive an email with "item has been listed " or "item has been sold"...when you click on the link of the item, in real ebay, it takes right to the item WITHOUT having to type in any id or password....but in the fake ones they want u to type in id and password....hope it helps someone...i just don't want any of our members to get scammed....these Nigerian scammers were able to earn $5 billion since 1989...that's a lot of money....

                            Re: Scam?

Kala, I got the SAME EXACT type of email except it was for AOL. It looked exactly like AOL's site and it asked for "updated information". Also got one for ebay a while back (like the one you just described). I didn't even have an ebay account at the time, so that was pretty funny. Anyway, I was talking to my credit card company about these scams, and they said the scammers are copying the exact sites now to look like legitimate sites whether it be ebay, paypal, aol, ect.
