Ordered a new beater

Yup.... the E class was returned before Florida.

We were going to wait until Nov/ Dec for the new MB diesel to come out

My fiance got to drive my buddies 07 CLK550 (382 hp and 391 tq) conv while in Florida.... well..... after further review.... I placed an order about 1 hr ago.

But..... I don't roll like him (new house, fiance, wedding etc).... this will be a black 07 CLK350 coupe w/ navi.

And.... it isn't for me.... it's for my fiance..... so she gets a new beater instead of driving her 02 hyundai elentra with a bizzillion miles on it

I expect 14.3/ 14.2 out of it..... maybe 14.1?

Now I wait to find out how long till it arrives.....

that's awesome man.... i think she will like Mercedes better than the Hyoondie ..... btw let me ask you something since you work for MB. What you think about c-class sedans? i mean, they are pretty cheap .... are they good family sedan? when i get out from the college and u know have a family, i don't mind driving a MB sedan....

I have never seen a bunch of cars so miraculously overpriced in my life. Decent cars, but if I am going to buy something off a production line, I would buy American made, whether it was a foreign owned company or not.

My guess is you're going to be paying about $35-$40k with your discount, which makes it much better, but for a low end MB, is it worth it?

you know, people say that these cars come with better parts and no cut corners and thats why they are so nice and not so nicely priced but what i think is that Benz dealers have service departments which tells me they do break often enough. and I'm sure they still cut corners just like everyone else to get a larger profit margin. Is it just the name? what do you think? congrats on the great life friend.

There's a report that say that American cars are better than German and other European cars when it comes to reliability. America is only second to Japan.

I don't know about quality though. But then again I've seen the Caddies and they look just as nice in quality if not better than any benz or BMW's out there.

Mmm.. thats pretty cool that you call a Merc a "beater", but if i had the money to buy a Benz i would def. buy something else. I just remember someone saying that since the merger Chyrsler products have been getting better and Benz have been getting worse. Although i did see a CL55 AMG the other day and that thing looked sexy. :drool:

C-class cars...... I like them. Nothing wrong with them at all. Since I have gotten used to the size of an E I doubt I'd go back to a C but it still has plenty of room in it and nice selection of engines.

As for lots of dealers...... we have somewhere around low 300's for totyal number of dealers in the US. Some may look at this and say.... cause the cars have lots of problems. Most people aren't aware that 78%+- of MB's ever produced for the US market are still out there and on the road.

As for high cost...... well before I worked for the company I would have agreed completely. Now that I work there and fully understand the amount of technology, safety, performance and so many other aspects that most people are unaware of that are incorporated into every aspect of the vehicles it now makes sense.

Just my 2 cents
