I know it sounds stupid, but I have a friggin' Bull Frog in my pond that's eating my Koi. The Koi are about $30-50 EACH, and I cannot seem to sneak up on the basterd to net him! It's not as easy as you may think. I've been out there for two days now, with nothing to show for it. Blocking my movements are a wooden bridge, lily pads, and many other plants growing from the 600 gallon pond.
I don't want to kill him, I just want to capture and relocate him.
Anyone out there with any hints or traps I may be able to use???
Well you said you dont want to kill it, so there goes my idea, which was a 22. Rifle. I guess all you can do is wait for it to start crooking, and run after it a catch it. Ive seen little kids do it all the time, but sometimes frogs are fast! -OR- you could "become the frog" and dress up in a frog suit, like Mario used to do, and sit by the pond pretending.......... if you do that make sure and take pics/vid.

get some scooba gear...do the frog just sit at the end of the pond and basically tease u cuz it can jump right back in the pond when u come for it? cuz good luck if they do that cuz u aint gonna get em...i got a pond in the back of my house and how u use to catch them was i got in the pond and then snuk up behind them while they were on the end and force em out away from the pond...u gotta better chance when theyre out of the water

i really dont know what to tell you, if you have some letess ( i know thats not right ) around try putting that out. my little brother caught a bunch of baby frogs ( about 30, still didnt have back legs yet ) and they LOVED letess. a real big net might help, there really isnt any easy way to catch frogs. just have to keep at it i guess.
BTW, im gussing this isnt a homemade pond or something right? just wondering how you came up with the gallon amount? just an edicated guess?
EDIT: happen to have any pictures of the koi? ive had 2 catfish in a decent sized tank for about a year now, i didnt think they'd live more than a few days but they're doing fine ( and growing fast ). i have them in a different tank than the gold fish, dont think they'd get along too well.

Anyhow, the pond was installed before we moved in. The previous owner was a constuction equipment owner and had a Back-Hoe dig the hole. He basically built everything else by hand.
I'll try the lettuce in some sort of Glue Trap though. I like animals and reptiles, and I really don't want to kill anything unless it's absolutely neccessary. Thanks for the help guys :)
i used to catch frogs and crap when i was a kid all the time. the best way is to walk up really slow like and put a net about 4-6 inches in front of him. then lean down and splash the water in back. i used to do the whole thing with my hands. the key is to move really slowly until you absolutely have to.. frogs dont swim particulary fast and they dont leave really shallow water. some bare feet and shorts should be all you need to go after him.

i think they're harder to catch out of water opposed in it, the oppoiste of what someone else said earlyer. just get a big net ,someone to help and some " lettuce" and have fun. how cold is the water? im sure theres someone around to help get him, in my experiance they're not that hard to catch. if i lived closer id seriously come over help, and id even brin my own lettuce and net.

Now I'm pissed! There are two smaller baby frogs swimming around now ALONG with the large frog:rant: :rant: :rant:
