The main thing going against the 5th generation Camaro will be it's weight... it's going to need all the horsepower and torque it can get just to haul around it's fat, closer to 2 ton carcass. That just plain sucks...
You have the RS and SS thing backwards. Th original RS did not mean the camaro came with a high performance v8. The RS was an appearance package with hidden head lights(half hidden on the 69), different grill and put the backup lights on the 67-68 models below the bumper. The SS was pretty much top dog except for the Yenko's COPO's and famous ZL-1 with 427's. You could order the SS with high performance small block or big block 396 with either 325, 350, or 375hp and came with heavy duty suspension, disk brakes, and a 12 bolt. You could order an RS with a low po small block. The z28 camaro was the top all around performing camaro, but it was not the fastest. It came with a high winding 290hp 302, 4spd, 12bolt, performance suspension, and had an option for 4 wheel disk brakes.
That much for a base v8? GM might as well just scrap it now and save them the time. 28k for the "base" v8 is insane when Mustangs are well under that.
A base Mustang GT is just below $26K, and that's without any options. It doesn't take much to get to $28K.
I don't think prices some guy made up will be accurate anyways though. It's tough enough to predict the options, but predicting options and prices makes everything completely random. Things like Onstar are highly unlikely to be optional on the upper models too, and maybe not even on the lower ones by that point.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
