Update on my car

As some of you may remember my car was hit sometime around the end of June. After dealing with a ton of headaches and resisting the urge to kill someone I finally have it back.

I got my car back about 3 weeks after I took it in and there was a lot of stuff still wrong with it. Most obvious was the fact that they didnt paint the inside of the side mirror. When I adjusted it I saw red (litterally). So, I took it back to them for that and some other stuff and another week and a half go by. I finally get it back. This time they half *** painted the mirror and didn't clear coat it. Obviously, I am beyond pissed.

I call all state and tell them my car isn't going anywhere near that shop again. They let me take it somewhere else and two days later I finally have an all green car again.

The car will obviously never be the same and I think the first shop hit something with the front end because it's scuffed and spider cracked, but I can't prove anything. In the end I'm just glad I have my car back. Driving a camry, cobalt,and a PT cruiser all summer sucked.

Cliff notes: After about two months I finally have my car back and the shop I originally took it to sucks at life.

At least its back and all the same color. That body shop is awful too. Thats why I NEVER take my car to the 'Prefered' body shops of the insurance company. Not sure how it is in VA, but in Nebraska you can take your to any shop of your choice. I had an easy choice when I worked at a shop! :D

The problem is it was a Chevy dealer. I choose them because I didn't know any good body shops so I figured I could get good parts and atleast decent work from them. WRONG!

I plan on sticking it to them when I get some more paperwork next week from the shop who finished the work. They were suppose to do an alignment and balance the new wheel, but they didn't. I guess they just plan on people not knowing or caring they do bad work. I'll post up some pictures after all this rain stops.

Thats a bummer man. Do you mind telling which dealer it was? When my SS was backed into I took mine to Dudley Martin over in Manassas. They've done good work for my family through the years. I was worried because my car was silver and the only damaged parts were the front fender and bumper. However, the guy repainted the whole hood and door to help blend the silver through the rest of the car. I'll probably have them paint my RS when I'm ready.

thats horrible. if i were you, i'd call up the secretary of state and file a formal complaint. the tech should have his name on the reciept too. i know most techs are great, and live by "if it didnt look that way coming off the line, its not good enough" but if someone wants to half-a$$ something that they're being paid a premium price to do, they should get what they deserve. at least its back and done right (kinda). i would still talk to allstate about the spider cracks. couldnt hurt...

Sorry to hear that man. Definitely file a complaint. They likely cut more corners than you have yet to find, so better to get a complaint on record. Also, call or write to the owner of the dealership. I am sure they would love to hear that you are filing a complaint.

Nothing wrong with red, red on green is a problem though. ;)

Generally I've had good experiences with dealers, it really sucks that you relied on them and they let you down. At least you have your car back: you can always have panels repainted if the paint is cracked (I have some spiderwebbed paint and it bugs me)

when i picked mine up i went over every inch of the car before i signed anything. had anything not been right i would have told them to take it back and ****ing fix it.
