ok....ive decided to sell my camaro for a z28. question is, should i find a nice clean LT1 Z28 and buy w/the money from my car, or use my money from my car as a down payment of some sort and take out a loan and get an LS1? i WANT the LS1, but ive never had to make a car payment on any car ive ever had, paid full amount in cash for previous cars. main thing holding me back from an LS1 is one more freaking bill i have to worry about!!

suggestions welcome. i know i know it all comes down to what "I" think and want, but id just like to hear some comments/suggestions on this issue.

    thanks

    Re: stumped

Can you afford the bill? getting the loan if you can handle it will help your credit. I would personally go LS1 for various reasons including no optispark.

It depends on if you like low speed power or high speed power?
Either one is gonna be real fast
Ls1 will probably get better MPG and probably last longer

keep in mind maintence too, chances are less money would be spent on reapirs and such for a newer LS1,

If it were me,and it was something I could do without making major sacrafices in my life,I would go for the LS1. I'd only pass if it were going to cause any finacial concerns down the road, think future! Although bills and payments totally suck *** and having a new (to you) ride without setting your wallet back as much would be better in the long run it all depends on how badly you want it. Dont take it personal cause I love Camaros and Firebirds but I'd only start cutting corners elsewhere in life (Ie. living on top ramen&water by the candle light) for a bad*** loaded Corvette and nothing less.

I like the way that story ended in a happy ending with an LS7!!!!! rock on!!
I would live out of my vette before I bought a house lol

not always true. i paid 3500 for my '99 camaro w/70k 2 years ago, and i know that is way below what it was/is worth and it still runs as strong as when i got it.

                but i get your point.

EDIT: good points from everyone, thanks for comments/suggestions.
as for me being able to afford it(payments, that is) im pretty sure i could.
granted i might have to slang some yay-o on the side here and there
                just to make sure.

who knows what i'll end up doing, first things first i need to sell my car.

LS1! lt1 burns out too easily with its low rpm torque, peaks at 2400 i believe but dont get me wrong the lt1 is a tank of a engine, but so is the ls1. just my .02

they get about the same mileage.

lt1s dont last long? go post that on ls1techs lt1 forum or cz28 or lt1tech. they easily take 150+k miles without any major problems and there are quiet a few over the 200k mark still running like a top. aside from the opti spark and the back side of the intake manifold leaking here and there(easy fix might i add) the lt1 is a god**** tough motor. the power is there via low end. top end isnt as bad a people say either. its not going to have the top end of the ls1 obviously, but thats nothing a nice set of heads and a nice cam cant take care of. lt1s are dirt cheap to mod (you can get lt1 long tubes for around 300 bucks and i wont even get into the cam and heads choices that can be had)

a full bolt on lt1 will handle most cars on the road and take the beating with a smile.

its not uncommon to find a nice lt1 with 40-50k miles for 7000-8000 bucks. IMO the lt1 is the 2nd best bang for the buck motor there is behind the Ford 302.

i have probably 100 passes on my car in the last year and a half, and not one problem. all the problems i had when i got it were from the previous owner, and me making dumb@ss mistakes while adjusting things when i was putting it back together.

i have nothing against lsx's they are great motors. but the ltx motors arent that far behind. both are great platforms to go fast.

i find do it funny when 99+ stang owners talk about how lt1s suck so bad, then you hit the track and they avoid them.... i havent come across a stock or mild bolt on 99-04 stang i couldnt beat yet. ive also beat 05 by a 1/2 car also. its funny when they run their mouths all day, you hand them their a$$es and get to say hmm.. my 11 year old car just beat your 04 stang by 2-3 carlengths.
