dead or alive? im nervous

well tomm is the day i find out if my baby is still alive or not....for those of you who dont know the story i drove through id say a foot or more of water and my car died then wouldnt start and still wont. my theory is that the water covered the cai filter which made it die and since the starter is ABOUT a foot above the ground, 96 camaro, it somehow got ruined as it would just make a rotating grinding kind of noise. so im thinking no water got into the actual intake manifold and into the cylinders since i never really gave it throttle while i cruised through this big puddle at about 5mph or so and im hoping that replacing the starter will let it live. im nervous that the whole engine is ruined somehow, i cant stop thinking about it lol. what does everybody think? is it possible water actually traveled up the intake tubing and got into some cylinders? im nervous/anxious to find out and i cant get it out of my head, so i decided to write this up. sorry for the long post but i kinda want some opinions. thanks

if you werent gassing it, then your TB would have been pretty much closed.

It is still possible tho, I bet your MAF sensor is ****ed, probably along with a lot of other stuff. Id say it is possible it starts, but it may take more than a starter to see that happen.

I don't know. It died for a reason. but like mentioned, the MAF might have seen this or taken a dump and killed the engine but if it was all the way up your intake into the the throttle body, It most likely made it to the combustion chamber cause an engine doesn't stop on a dime.

yea, if water was up to the TB it would just poured in probably.

no it was no higher than the mid or top of my tire

well and engine is a pump and if it makes its way into the intake tub, i has now entered into a low pressure vacuum space and will be drawn into the engine.

hmmm......not good. im just gonna hope for the best. ill post up on this tomm when i find out in the afternoon sometime. thanks for the input
