  • Has anyone ever build/known anyone to build a "Locost"?

What is it? See here: http://www.locostusa.com/

I just read Ron Champion's book, "build your own sports car for as little as 250" and I must say that i was impressed and inspired. I am seriously considering taking on the project once i have the space to do so. I was just curious if anyone else has ever been into this.

looks much like a caterham 7 replica:

I have nothing to contribute other than the fact that Super 7s are badass. I saw a video of one autocrossing and it's tires were stickey enough to make it lift the rear wheels under heavy braking.

they are cool, I would do it if I had the money and if I could gurantee I could fit in it. there was a kit where you used an S-10 frame as a base, and ran a 60* v6.

They covered some guys doing this in Car and Driver a couple months ago. Look it up online or get the mag at the library, should help you out a bunch.

QFT. They had some good references/web sites in that article.

                    Good book:

"How to Build a Cheap Sports Car", Keith Tanner

Lotus Seven replica, using custom frame and Miata running gear. It's one of the more realistic books I've seen in terms of the difficulties to be overcome.
