  • Moving the TV

So, we bought a new Sony 51" TV to replace our 37" TV. We decided to move the 37" Sony into the cabinet in our bedroom. We took out the 27" Sony from the cabinet.

Question: How do I and my petite little wife move the ridiculously heavy 37" TV up two feet (from its stand) to get it into the cabinet?

I tried a few different things, including the floor jack from the garage (not a good idea - the heavy TV was wobbling around on the little round thingie - lol). So how to solve the problem?

I solved in true redneck fashion - with bricks.

I got a bunch of leftover pavers from our patio (these are the thin kind - about 1" thick). We started stacking them up under the TV. Lift one end of the TV up, put in a paver. Lift up the other end - put in a paver. Tilt up the back end pf the TV - put in a paver. We had three stacks, plus a fourth one in the middle for stability. So we gradully raised up the TV, brick by brick, until it was just above the shelf height in the cabinet. Then we carefully moved the TV as far back on the brick stacks as it would go (the edge of the shelf). Then we moved the TV onto the shelf.

Very low tech; very redneck; very simple. Task accomplished.

Last, I had to takes the bricks back to the storage spot on the side of the house and vacuum the carpet.

    Now I've got bigger TVs.

Only question is what to do with the 27" Trinitron. 15 years old and it still works perfect.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Know anyone that's got a gun? You'd be surprised at how much fun you can have with firearms and electronic items. Especially if they're still plugged in!!! (just make sure it doesn't start a fire)

Or, give it to me. I'll let you paypal me NOTHING! That's right absolutely NOTHING, and you can ship it to me! For Free of course

Or if you wanna be a little selfish, keep it for yourself and put it in your bedroom, den, office, kitchen, garage, or any other room that doesn't havea TV. Yes, that includes the bathroom! I want one in mine sooo badly....go in to take a dump, come out cuz the cable went out......

is the 37" the bigass trinitron? we have one of those, about that size, and that thing is a BEAST. weighs so much, and is so bulky to move. thats why i prefer getting a smaller, light, flatscreen johnson.
