oh god dude, that should be so easy...
you call someone a pussy if they're weak or scared (effeminate connotations)
"be a man, suck it up" (insinuating that men don't express emotions, much less let emotions trouble them)
if your prof is a feminist, you could go on about how "king of his castle" could be construed that the man is the boss and the wife must always be subserviant
the things you could say about the way aggressive language is associated with sexuality (for instance, to fu*k someone usually has an aggressive connotation to it "i fu*ked that guy over, haha, now he's my bi1ch!!11!" and at the same time, you use the same word in reference to having sexual relations with a girl)
dude, it took me literally 4 minutes to think of that. like i said, if you're prof is a feminist, this is your big shot to butter up

I'm with these guys. This should be so flippin easy.
also consider how guys talk around other guys "Dude, I am the man of my house" or "I tell her when and where I want it" and then they turn around to their girl and say "anything you want sweetie".
Its already done. I wrote, "I am all that is man, if you give me a failing grade, i will make sure you feel like less of a man in front of the whole class."

Sculpting with Words
It’s easy to overlook the idea that a communication tool such as the English language can have such harmful effects upon the speakers and listeners. Sometimes it seems to slip the mind that language is extremely powerful because it comes so naturally. The human brain is ‘programmed’ from birth to think in a language, such as Japanese in Japan or English in America. Our society would be nearly primitive without such a rich and descriptive language. With our language, we can describe, give commands, convey thoughts and feelings, and so much more basically meaning we have no linguistic bounds. With this limitless ability to communicate comes the ability to linguistically harass and oppress anyone who can understand it. An example of this would be the title ‘mailman’ now being mailperson, because mailman sets the idea that only men may be mail carriers. There are many more examples of this, but it’s often overlooked that men can be linguistically harassed also. He can’t cry, he is supposed to be a man. He can’t wear tight clothes; he is supposed to be a man. The idea of being able to say “he is supposed to be a man” and having people understand it is part of the problem. With this language, the American male is guided or sometimes even forced into the stereotypical man’s role.
Thats the intro

I thought this particularly interesting. Assume one was separated from society at birth and thus learned no language, what would his conscious thought entail?
Side note, only our conscious thinks in languages. Subconscious does not.
i remember how sweet my b/s skills were back in high school and my college english class. they dont do me much good now that the engineering classes are here
on another note, its weird to think about, but the theme of my english class was arguement. if you think about it, everything we say is an arguement. even a simple "hi" or "hello" carries the insinuation that you have aknowledged that person and argues that your aknowledgement deserves a reply. think about it, if you walked past someone in the hallway, even someone you dont know, and you said "hi" and they ignored you, you'd probably be like "screw you too buddy"... it was a really cool class. everything from arguements in advertising, to editorials, to (like this assignment) analysis of the subtilities of everyday language.
on one more note, i think that the term "mailman" has no more gender reference than do the feminine and masculine forms of words in the latin-based languages... yet another example of how people are being brainwashed in this constant fear of offending other people. it takes away from the grace and fluidity of the language. political correctness
