Re: What type of engine oil do you use?

I usually use Mobil 1 full syn.
but I rebuilt my engine and have been using TONS of oil
so I'm using the Wal-mart SuperTech syn. now
I use 5w-30 in winter, and mostly 10w-30 in summer

I buy a bigger name, midrange stuff... usually a synthetic blend... 10W 30

people have run cars for longer then I will my car on cheap dyno juice.

I personally think its more important to have a good filter and change it frequently then it is to have fancy oil.

Castrol High Mileage 10w30, with a bottle of Lucas. works like a charm.

Re: What type of engine oil do you use?

I used Valvoline durablend when I had my camaro. With the T/A I'm using Mobil 1 full synthetic. When I get a chance to look for it though, I'm going to be looking for the German Castrol 0w-30. The guys over at ls1tech rant and rave about how good it is for our engines. So, I'll try that in about three months and see how things go

                      I tried M1 0w-40 in the Z. I didn't notice any difference.

                              Same here.

I always heard standard valvoline wasn't good in Pontiacs. It would burn up and cake on as Pontiacs run a little hotter. Never thought too much until I blew my head gasket and there was burnt oil everywhere. Then my girlfriends Bonneville had upper intake gasket go and hers looked the same as mine. After that I only run Castrol or Pennzoil.

I believe its called Lucas Oil Treatment, it just helps quit things down, i could really notice, i think it runs smoother, I heard about it from a friend of mine that used to run dirt dragsters. however ive also heard it doesnt do anything, but i think it does, its really up to the driver. I'd try it, i dont think it can hurt anything.
