There's no such thing as a "slow news day." Important things are always happening, but the public is so low-brow and unsophisticated in its tastes that the news media emphasizes this kind of crap to get ratings.

I find the whole T.O thing slightly interesting, but I didn't spend more than ten or twenty seconds reading about it. The media gives this kind of thing way too much attention.

There is such thing as a slow news day. Thats what people mean when they say it. I always found it amusing that CNN, Fox News, etc. control what people know about for weeks. For instance, when there were several mine collapses, all that they covered for about a month was mines. Those channels should b e comedy channels, they're a joke

you missed my point: there's always something important and relevant to cover, but the news media focuses on what sells. They sell it and we (America as a whole) buy it. News station don't cover garbage because of a "slow news day," they cover it because GARBAGE is the only type of "news" that the vast majority of the American people care about or understand. We demand mindless trash in news, and they supply it.

We don't demand it. Its what they've raised us on. People could care less if they're watching about a huge murder or some bull****. Why is it CCN or Fox News will cover one murder of some rich white girl in California, but won't cover any of the other thousands of murders per day?
