I'm looking for a second car (a means of getting to and from work). Tonight I went and looked at some 98z28 with 74700 miles. The guy wants 9,200 for it Its red, and in nice condition. It has a few rock chips on the hood and a slight whine which he said was related to the air pump. The car books from anywhere between 75000-9500 depending on where you look (nada or kbb). Seems like ls1 fbodys are hard to find for a good price. Who thinks this sounds like a decent deal?

Re: Considering another camaro
not meaning to sound like an A-hole but if ur looking for a ride to get two and from work why look for a gas guzzling Z28? my advice if ur going to buy another camaro and u aint going old school with it id just wait until 2009 and get you a new one with no whine sound due to whatever he may "claim" it is my car has a little whine to it though someone told me it was the alternator and it just needed to be re-wired. anyway id give it some more thought. plus 9200 is a bit high for an 8 yr old car with 75k miles on it. i payed 9900 for mine and it was an '02 with 50k miles... if u do end up going with it id try to jew him down to like 8k atleast. not to mention a car u drive every day to work increases the chances of beeing wrecked.. i myself would just go with something cheap u could do a lot with 9grand but if money isnt an issue to u then buy it lol

9.2k is pretty steep for a '98. I wouldn't pay more than 7-8k.2001 Black Z28 M6
Sprayed, slotted, geared and more~

Re: Considering another camaro
well i get about 25-30 mpg my friends v8 firebird gets about 10-15mpg reguardless of what yours gets...sense u didnt state anything about it i dont really know. but i believe it would be semi obvious that a v6 or smaller engine would easily exceed mpg over a v8 anyday also my dads corvette not that it compares to a camaro or firebird or antyhing but it doesnt really get wonderful gas mileage point was a car strictly for work i wouldnt really be going for speed or engine size.

That's pretty d*rn close if you ask me ....actually i am surprised myself! Ls1 is a very efficient v8....i guess you have to pay the extra .30 or whatever more per gallon for premium ..... other than that it's almost a tie....... btw, loochy, if the car is in good shape get it! don't wait.... your live only once .....so, enjoy it.... :)Last edited by kala; 09-28-2006, 09:53 PM.

Re: Considering another camaro
If you're going to get an LS1 don't get a 98 as those were the worst years and go with a six speed. As far as gas mileage goes you might get the same as the v6 but thats if you stay out of it. And I gurantee there is no way you're going to be driving like a grandma when you get that LS1. You'll start getting itch to start racing it then modding it. As far as it being a good deal, the mileage isn't bad considering the year but the most I would pay is $8100.Last edited by Fred; 09-28-2006, 10:46 PM.www.fbodyelpaso.org A4 stock 3.42 and LSD not Y87,SLP cold air induction, whisper lid, k&n filter, flowmaster 80 series, hypertech, 160 powerstat thermostat, t/a front bumper, functional nostrils, pacesetter headers best et: 15.9 at about 4800ft

Re: Considering another camaro
well, i was thinking more like around 8000, but ill probably just end up waiting and seeing what pops up. work is only a few miles away as of december (our office is moving) so the gas will not be terrible, and its worth it anyway to me. Oh, and believe me, it wont take long till i start modding it. I'll just have to see if anything else comes up. Ive got time to wait i suppose.

Re: Considering another camaro
its funny when people say v8s get horrible gas mileage. the trans am gets much better gas mileage than my old 3.4 ever did. and i drive with a bit of led foot here and there.
never calculated the mileage but its roughly 22mpg city and somewhere around 30 high way. not to shabby if you ask me.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
