  • Has anybody ever found a Job or gotten a job by using Monster.com?

I really need to find another job. Not only did they rip me off by giving the lowest wage in my field, Education Resource Coordinator, but I found out that I am #1 of all the 12 campus all over the country. Their excuse is because of the area I live in. What??

On top of that the new hires are making $5.00 more than I am and I'm the one training them. Plus I have the degree and experience and they don't.

Today was the last straw. My supervisor came over to my desk to give the check and I wasn't there. He saw a very small picture 1 1/2" by 3" of my Fiero on my window sill and took it, crumpled it and left on my desk for me to notice.

I mean what the hell man!! The guy is into cats. How would he like it if I took a picture of his cat down and crumpled it and left on his desk.

I posted on Monster.com. Because of my work hours, I really don't have a chance to go out and look for a job.

You have to consider one thing; what kind of guy is into cats like you're into cars? LOL. That's s***ty about the picture, why would someone do that? For that mattter, what kind of company pays experienced employees less than newcomers? You should get a new job if thats the case, that's really crappy.

Hey, I was looking at your bodybuilding site a few day ago: do you still bodybuild a lot?

Never used monster.com. Keep up the hunt, something will come up. The economy is good. :)

That is unacceptable, even as small as a picture, thats private property; not to mention the salary thing sheesh.

First off my former supervisor called Monster.com "Da S***" . he got a job working for a place like Fed Ex but smaller and less hectic. so im guessing its pretty good.

Second I kinda know where youre coming from. When my supervisor left hi spot was open and 2 of my co-workers(1 guy 1 girl) pretty much knew how to work ne where in the wherehouse, excluding the office, on the belts but didnt get the job on technicalities like submitted resume to late or something.

The guy they hired, every1 hates, cuz hes a complete idiot and not to mention stinks, literally. My guy co worker was basically training him for the job he shoulda got, he actually admitted the girl coworker was more qualified but i digress. Heck I even had to teach/remind him of stuff-did i mention hes a complete idiot. whew sorry i went into a rant lol

Re: Has anybody ever found a Job or gotten a job by using Monster.com?

I've gotten job interviews by responding to Monster.com. My current employer uses Monmster.com extensively to advertise for open positions we have.

As far as posting a resume and hoping an employer will contact you - that is an extrremely rare event.

The incident with the crumpled picture sounds very strange, almost psycho. ..and Fieros are really cool little cars.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Re: Has anybody ever found a Job or gotten a job by using Monster.com?

I've used monster in the past... not bad. I find it much more useful than any of the other sites. (carreer builder, hotjobs) My current job I got thru the site actually. I posted my resume and my company found it. I was getting a lot of interviews though thru the site from companies seeing my resume on there.. I say keep it up there.. its not going to hurt.

Something else to considert: corporate headhunters. these people make money off of filling vacancies for companies. they are usually independant of any one company and owrk for a hiring agency. they can give you advice on prospective companies from the outside looking in. youll know if the new place is just spinnin its wheels and has a high turn over rate before yuo start working. with these people though, its best to just get your name to a lot of them. i so far havent had the best luck with using them (though one is getting me interviews... )

good luck with the search... i too have not a lot of time to look, so I rely on these two resources... Dont get discouraged in teh search..i say hold out and look for the best job. if the pay isnt there.. try and bargin with them. i took my current job under the "well your pay is ok for htis area... this area has lower salaries" line.. and then found out they were lying thru their teeth... don't settle for that.

if you really like your current job, if you get other offers, you can approach them with the new offers and see if they'll match salaries, or at least increase yours some. I mean, if htey are a good business, they will want to keep around valuable employees.

anyways.. good luck.. hope it all turns out for the best for ya...

Thanks guys. Those are good advices. I will definately get more active at Monster.com.

I'm just coming really close at jumping his neck.

              I still exercise.

Re: Has anybody ever found a Job or gotten a job by using Monster.com?

I posted my resume on Monster.com when I was finishing up school. I got calls from those freakin employee agencies CONSTANTLY. It was annoying as hell because they are like a damn car salesman trying to make a quick buck. Monster is better for looking up available jobs. I landed a crap load of interviews just by researching openings on the site myself and mailing in a resume as well as submitting an application on Monster.

Ultimatley the final job I took had nothing to do with Monster.com, lol.

the thing about monster is that it gets you in touch with SOOOO many different companies that you never knew existed. for instance, when i was looking for a co-op job, kettering had their corporate relations office but i wanted to be more proactive about finding a job. when i started out i knew about the major auto makers and suppliers like bosch, delphi, and those, but there are SOOO many more small companies. and they have a great resouce center for finding out info from salary levels to resume writing to tips for interns like me. when i get my degree, if i dont find a job at a fair, i'll be using monster definately.

Re: Has anybody ever found a Job or gotten a job by using Monster.com?

I've used Monster and Career builder. Both have worked for me. I was looking for aviation jobs on both and was hired by Boeing through Career. That didn't work out because I have what is known as a "criminal background", even though my secret security clearence is still good. (Work hard, Party hard) I contacted Boeing. Then about a month later G.E contacted me because oMonster as an Electrical Tech. So I like both.

I've always heard as a rule of thumb that for every 10k you want to make it will take a month to find that job, meaning for 70k-100k a year it will take 7-10 months for a position to open up because people dont randomly quit 100k a year jobs. Obviously this does not apply to 10k-20k a year but you get the point. Good luck and have patience
