You guys all act like cops aren't people with emotions. What if your friend was shot and killed by somebody and you had the oppurtunity to shoot the killer. Some emotions would take over, allowing you to empty a clip.

should we say teh same if you piss off an officer & he empties a clip in you?
We have rule of law, not mob. I'll be highly dissapointed if no disciplenatry action is done. Was he really guilty? who knows, as proof beyond resonable doubt is being cleaned up by forrest bugs & animals.
MAybe the ACLU will take it's head out it's collective a$$ and pursue this, although I'd still rather have the ACLU go the way of the dodo.

Yep, I'm sure a LEO would be better at explaining it, but it sounds like if you just would have called the cops and waited for them to get there, it wouldn't have been a problem. Your dad put himself in danger by going outside in the first place. He's the one who got his gun and went outside, probably waited for them to drive by in the middle of the street. Should have waited for them to come onto your property and then shot them. I thought they teach you the right way to shoot someone in gun classes. Shoot them coming toward you, not running away.

Well I guess I will let you in on the enviroment so that way you "probably" won't assume wrong. The "neighbors" parking lot is where it happened. The neighbors are REMAX realty. They are on the corner. Behind them, catty corner to parents house, is a Dr's office. They were pulled in Dr's parking lot and started to drive off and hopped a medium between the driveway they were in and Remax pulling a U-turn toward me. I was on my property in the grass with a car headed at me, and only thing behind me was a house. My dad shot them as they were coming towards me. I don't know how you could shot someone through a car windshied if they were "running away".
I never said the cops agreed with it. They told him "If this ever happens again, kill the S.O.B. Dead guys don't talk." They agreed with what my dad did but had to follow protocal which brings us back to what I am saying that a law is a law and we ALL must follow them. Did he pay any medical bills? NO. Did he pay any pain and suffering? NO. Yeah they tried and as sooin as the police told them that attempted vehicular manslaughter was right around the corner for them they got quiet and never said another word.
Would you do it for your son or daughter? If anyone ever tried to harm my girlfriends two daughters you bet your *** I would put a whole clip into them. Does it make it right? No, but I would still do it. I understand what these guys did and why they did it. But it was still wrong.

Sorry I guess I should have started another paragraph when I started talking about waiting till they were on your property. I wasn't talking about your situation, I was talking in generalities at that point.
Thanks for the backstory though.

Re: Accused of killing deputy, suspect shot 68 times
First off, only 68 hits out of over 100 shots? Come on guys.... you're not even aiming....these are lethal bullets meant for a human target. You can't just be poppin em' off like that....

Is anyone besides me at all concerned about police taking the law into their own hands, and becoming judges and juries, too?
You know, I've been wondering this myself. And it worries me because I trying to get my concealed weapons permit. Although I may never carry a firearm on me, lets suppose I do one night. Then on that night, the wife and I get robbed at knife point. I pull out the gun and the robber drops the knife and just stands there. 1 minute later a cop on foot comes around the corner and sees me with my snub nose in some guy's face. Will he:
A)Ask "whats going on here"
B)Pull out his gun and order me to drop the weapon
C)Go for his gun and shoot me cold blooded to "protect" himself or this "unarmed man" from being shot
Odds probably are the answer is B..... but I bet an alarming percentage of officers would end up actually doing C. Is that percentage 20%? 10%? 5%? Who cares. Even if it's .005%.

you can expect the same result as pretty much any other decent person in that situation. certain percentages. they're cops. they're humans, not robots (tho i dont doubt that sooner or later we'll have those too). i dunno, if i saw some guy with a gun in another guy's face without knowing the situation, i'd sure have my gun out and the safety off... ESPECIALLY if i know that i'm a prime target to get shot cuz i'm a 1. cop and 2. witness.
my opinion and then i'm gonna stop whoring this thread: no, they probably shouldnt have shot him on the spot. thats what they did in the USSR. that leads to government take over and is why we have the 2nd amendment. he should've been arrested if possible.
if he shot at the cops as they approached, thats a different story. it doesnt matter shooting a few times or unloading a clip. like i said. dead is dead. who cares how many times they shoot? in a situation like that - kill or be killed- you're aiming for center of mass and a chest/abdomen wound is pretty damn serious. let alone 2 or 3. past that its just pointless and is really just an afterthought.
i can see tho y they wouldnt bother with arresting him too. he's already shot 2 (technically 3) cops. who says he's not gonna shoot more?

Re: Accused of killing deputy, suspect shot 68 times
y'all realize that swat carries full auto mp5's and m4's right? its not like they were reloading and kept firing, 100 rds isnt that much, an officer would have 30rds loaded in their weapon, swat's usually 8 or 9 man team, thats alot more than 100 rounds... a short burst of full auto from each of them could make that 100 rounds pretty quickly
and you seriously expected them to not shoot this dude?!?! he just killed an officer and is hiding in the woods armed, once you kill one cop, you're not going to surrender to the next....
Re: Accused of killing deputy, suspect shot 68 times
eh im a firm believer in eye for an eye.
you shoot someone, you get shot.
he got what he deserved. maybe a few more bullets than id pump in him, but who am i to judge. in the heat of things with emotions running high, id probably do it too. with the way the legal system is these days, the guy probably would have gotten community service and 6 months probation for killing a cop.
my heart goes out to the family of the cop who was just trying to do his job.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

Plus it's hard to hear them say "Cease fire" with all the shooting going on. Good point about the auto thing.
